The FIA has made some questionable decisions in recent times. The 2021 Abu Dhabi GP decisions are still some of the most controversial ones. Even then, we can give the governing body the benefit of the doubt, as the pressure to make the decision with limited time is so high. However, after Daniel Ricciardo’s crash, FIA made a royal mess which cannot be ignored as fans unleashed fury. What did FIA do?

Daniel Ricciardo, in an unfortunate turn of events, crashed during the FP2 session at Zandvoort. As a result of the crash, Ricciardo suffered wrist fractures and was declared unfit to race. As fans hoped for a quick recovery, the AlphaTauri team announced that Liam Lawson will be replacing the Honey Badger for the remaining weekend. However, the team has to officially submit a request to the FIA and inform them of the change.

This is what was the start of the mess made by the FIA. Remember how last year, Alex Albon couldn’t compete at the Italian GP due to appendicitis? Nyck de Vries replaced Albon. However, as the Dutchman’s former team submitted the request to get Liam Lawson in, FIA made a blunder and put Alex Albon’s name in place of Ricciardo’s.

When comparing the documents side by side, it seems that FIA just copied the document from the 2022 Italian GP, made the amendments, and issued it. However, they forgot to swap Alexander Albon’s name from a sentence. Fans are furious at FIA for making a mess out of the documentation as they take to social media.

Fans react to FIA making a royal blunder after Daniel Ricciardo’s crash

Fans took to Twitter after the FIA released the documents, advising how Liam Lawson will be allowed to replace Daniel Ricciardo. Many fans called the FIA an unserious organization after realizing the mess that they created in official documents.
