Ever since Daniel Ricciardo returned to the Red Bull family, talks of Sergio Perez losing his seat alongside Max Verstappen have been circling in the community. Even the team boss Christian Horner has made it clear that Checo has been in the team on merit and it is his seat to lose at the end of 2024. If the Honey Badger pulled out some magical performances in 2024, who knows who’ll be Verstappen’s teammate in 2025? Amid such uncertainty over the Mexican’s race seat at Red Bull, Formula E’s co-founder extended a warm welcome to Checo.

In a recent conversation with Diario AS, Alberto Longo, co-founder and head of the electric side of Formula Racing, openly invited Sergio Perez to consider joining Formula E. He playfully suggested that Formula E is the “real competition” Checo needs for the next step in his career if he so chooses to make the switch. Formula E’s rapidly growing popularity, as suggested by a Red Bull development driver, makes the offer that much sweeter for the Mexican.

Max Verstappen is the source of the newfound popularity of Formula E

The partnership between Red Bull and Max Verstappen has proven to be quite successful over the years. But in 2023, they took their success to another level, claiming 19 out of the 21 race wins with the Dutchman. If you’re not a part of Verstappen’s Orange Army, the season would have been quite a dull one for the most part.

This dominance from Max Verstappen is pushing some of the F1 fan base to explore its electric racing counterpart, as suggested by defending Formula E champion and Red Bull development driver Jake Dennis. Fans are finding the characteristic closely packed racing of Formula E to be more enjoyable when compared to how predictable Formula 1 has become.

“It’s so dominant from Max right now, it really brings new viewers to Formula E,“ Mirror.co.uk quoted Dennis. “It brings our championship alive because we just don’t have that – we have a championship which is extremely difficult and close. We have 20 cars within two or three seconds on certain tracks, so it’s a lot more exciting and a lot more enjoyable for the fans, I would say.”

“We just need to branch out there to a bigger audience for Formula E and get plenty of exposure, which is what is needed for the championship to take it to the next level,” he added.

To add to F1’s increasing predictability, Dennis has said that the 2024 season will be quite similar to what we witnessed in 2023 as far as Red Bull is concerned.

Dennis says Lewis Hamilton should forget about having a title fight in 2024

As a development driver for Red Bull, Jake Dennis has played a crucial role in preparing RB20 for the 2024 season, with countless hours on the simulator. And he has some really bad news for anyone hoping to take the fight to Red Bull and Max Verstappen.

In an interview with Mirror Sport, Dennis dismissed Lewis Hamilton’s hopes of taking the title fight to Max Verstappen in 2024. He asserted that the RB20 is an “extremely fast car“ and he predicts a repeat performance from the Milton-Keynes squad in 2024. “I would expect us to become champions again unless someone like Ferrari or Mercedes somehow manages to find about a second [per lap] overnight. I think it’s going to be quite a dull season in Formula 1 with Max probably dominating,” said Dennis.
