Despite all top teams being in this bidding war, Newey’s manager, Eddie Jordan, has brought a “fifth team” into the picture.

Newey’s F1 creations helped Red Bull win 7 drivers’ and 6 constructors championships. But in these 19 years, he endured excessive pressure, not to mention 2021’s exhausting rivalry with Mercedes. So when the Briton finally called it quits at Red Bull, Eddie Jordan hinted that Newey would consider retirement over joining another F1 team. Because Newey is 65, the option of conventional retirement still stays in the picture, according to the former Jordan F1 team owner.

“The fifth team he should be thinking about is himself,” Jordan said on the Formula for Success podcast. “He and (his wife) Amanda have got a wonderful home in Cape Town,” he remarked, hinting at the beautiful post-retirement life awaiting Newey. “We see a lot of them… great, great friends,” he further added.

F1’s pecking order would entirely transform if the ex-Red Bull CTO retires. But because the strong Ferrari rumors continue to grow, fans’ desire to watch him if action stays high. However, Eddie Jordan has put an end to this over-hyped move as well.

Eddie Jordan firmly rejects supposedly concrete claims on Adrian Newey’s Ferrari move

After Frederic Vasseur signed Lewis Hamilton for Ferrari, anything seemed possible for them. Even when the 7-time champion was asked about this potential move, he agreed that it would be “amazing”. The build-up reached an ultimate point when the Daily Mail claimed that Newey to Ferrari was a ‘done deal’. No sooner did it go up than Jordan has brought it down.

“I can give my absolute life on that,” Jordan told David Coulthard on their podcast, opposing the ‘done deal’ claim. “There is no inclination in any particular way at the moment. We’re looking at opportunities and letting people come and we are letting people come and talk to us.”
