Nicholas Kolcheff a.k.a. Nickmercs caused a stir on Twitter. Since then, a lot has happened in the world of Esports. The “Nickmercs Operator” package was removed from the Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 shops by Call of Duty producer Activision. In response to this, DrDisrespect has uninstalled the title and demanded an apology for Nickmercs.

The whole controversy began when the popular streamer Nickmercs tweeted his concern about a video. The video was of a recent incident in California when protesters opposed to LGBTQIA+ rights attacked marchers. Reacting to this, the streamer wrote, “They should leave little children alone. That’s the real issue.”

DrDisrespect Uninstalls Call Of Duty, Demands An Apology For Nickmercs

During a stream, DrDisrespect showed his disappointment against the decision taken by the makers of Call Of Duty. He uninstalled the title in support of Nickmercs and demanded a public apology for Nickmercs from the makers. He also wants the developers to reinstate Nickmerc’s skin in the game. “That decision by the PR and marketing team, that is a tough one to digest. I believe A. They need to apologize to him publicly or reinstate his bundle in order for me to consider playing Call Of Duty again”, he quoted in his live stream.

The decision to take down Nickmercs’s skin is receiving backlash from his fans and some other popular streamers. While the tweet by Nickmercs is considered being anti-LGBTQ, the streamer has also been receiving some support after the backlash. The former MLG Champion further refrained from apologizing for his tweet. After taking down the “Nickmercs Operator” bundle from the title, the official Call Of Duty Twitter account tweeted, “We are focused on celebration PRIDE with our employees and our community.”

Fans have been divided after the statements made by Nickmercs. Some believe the tweets are in bad taste and the streamer owes an apology. While the defenders argue that the opinions fall under the freedom of expression. However, as the world celebrates Pride Month, the gaming community speculates the controversy would not be ending anytime soon.
