Ubisoft has canceled its upcoming ‘Project Q,’ and fans are having a hard time believing it.

2022 was an amazing year for Ubisoft as they finally dropped Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. It was one of the most anticipated games of the developer as fans manifested it for a long time. And after the release, users considered it Ubisoft’s big sleeper hit. Apart from that, the franchise also added an extended version to Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, which was an instant hit.
But amidst this chaos, Ubisoft had promised fans their walk-in to their battle royale arena with a dedicated game. In late April, they uploaded a Twitter post confirming it, inviting fans to become part of their ‘closed tests.’ And as time passed, they kept the development going, getting fan reactions and thoughts about their experience.
However, almost a year later, the devs decided to scrape the game as they dropped a long post on a discord server.
Ubisoft ‘erases’ long-time battle royale title without valid reasons
According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft canceled their upcoming battle arena title ‘Project Q.’ They uploaded a post in the game’s private discord server, making the announcement for all participants. “Sadly we have to cancel our upcoming closed tests as Project Q will no longer continue development. This also means that we will need to shut down this Discord server. We don’t have further information to communicate right now but we want to thank you all for your passion and your love for Project Q,” they said.

This announcement came exactly before the game was about to enter its upcoming playtests. Ubisoft had planned three of them year around before taking the game to the next stage. However, they decided to erase the idea without any detailed information.
Still, Insider Gaming claims to have exclusive footage of the game that features a mode called ‘Showdown.’ Plus, a few other rumors claim the franchise to run multiple battle royale games in production.
As of now, it is unclear whether any rumor is completely true as Ubisoft is yet to make the announcement public. So, it is time that will help us understand how the franchise plays this one out and what the future beholds for fans.
