The road to WrestleMania kicked off on 28 January 2024 with one of WWE’s most exciting Premium Live Events; The Royal Rumble. But, now that the thrill of the 30-wrestler rumble is gone, the time for one of the most painful WWE matches has come. The next stop is the highly dreaded Elimination Chamber match, which will take place on 24 February 2024 in Perth, Australia. And the stakes for the match are already high.

One would wonder why The Elimination Chamber match gets such a high status despite WWE also having Hell in a Cell. But, while the concept of the cages may be similar, the testimonies of the wrestlers who went in tell a different story. In fact, a WWE Hall of Famer even said that he would never want to go back in that cage.

The chamber that even the greatest WWE wrestlers fear

The Elimination Chamber match presents a guaranteed championship or a number one contender spot. However, compared to fighting an actual title match, the stakes are much higher in this one. The chamber has resulted in several painful testimonies from WWE Superstars over the years. This list also includes one of WWE’s biggest risk-takers, Randy Orton. In a promotional video by WWE, many iconic superstars shared what stepping in the chamber felt like.

According to The Viper, “Steel doesn’t bounce you back like a set of ropes or the canvas. It is one of the more gruesome matches in the WWE.” His statement finds backing from WWE legend Booker T, who says, “You see the structure. All the steel and all the plate. You’re going to get hurt.” The gigantic structure of the Elimination Chamber also got through the skin of Edge.

Despite being one of the most notorious and mischievous heels, the Rated-R Superstar totally dreads the Elimination Chamber. According to him, “Man, I would not do that again. That was far too big a risk.” Harboring the same fear, The Celtic Warrior Sheamus says, “It changes you physically, mentally. I walked out a different person.”

The monsters that see the Elimination Chamber as a playground

According to Shawn Michaels, “On one hand, I mean it’s an incredibly brutal match. But on the other, going out there and doing everything that you can possibly imagine. It’s like being a kid in a candy store.”

Many other pro wrestlers like Dean Ambrose and the late Bray Wyatt also looked forward to the Elimination Chamber match because of its capability to cause hurt.
