Heavyweight phenom, Francis Ngannou, has been on a passionate fight quest after his departure from the UFC in January 2023. The then-reigning, Heavyweight champion was one of the biggest crowd-pullers in the promotion. Fans have often pondered his plans after leaving the UFC. Meanwhile, Ngannou has expressed his desire to transition into boxing, and even named heavyweight boxing superstars, Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Deontay Wilder. And, it looks like a Joshua or Wilder fight might just be around the corner.

Ngannou was recently in an interview with ESPN. In conversation, he delved into his desire to transition into the sport of boxing. Talking about the same, he said, “My next step has to be boxing. I want to do one boxing match first. And then maybe go back to MMA because I still enjoy MMA. I want to do a couple of fights in boxing.” He also stated that he was working to get a few matchups ready in the coming months. Ngannou further revealed that a Joshua or Wilder fight might be a reality very soon.

Moreover, he mentioned that they were very close to making a verbal agreement for the fight. He said, “I’m considering everybody. I talked to Eddie Hearn about Anthony Joshua, I don’t know what’s going to happen. The most that we have spoken with is Deontay Wilder’s team.”
