May 19, 2021 —- MMA legend Anderson “The Spider” Silva works out Wednesday in his first-ever Boxing Media Day. Silva shadow boxed, hit the mitts – speed bag – heavy bag and afterwards took questions from the media. Silva will fight outside of the Octagon for the first time since 2006. He will take on Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. in a professional boxing match in Guadalajara, Mexico, live on PPV Saturday, June 19th in an event titled Tribute to the Kings. Silva will fight on the same card that sees the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. take on Hector Machito Camacho, Jr. in a special boxing exhibition. Also on the card will be Omar Chavez who will take on Ramon Alvarez in the rubber match of their trilogy. On October 29th, at the Gila River, Phoenix Arizona, Anderson Silva, 47, will lock horns with Jake Paul, 25. Speaking of the fight with ‘The Spider’, in a recent interview, Paul expressed that he expected the fight to have up to 700,000 pay-per-view buys. In a sentence, he termed this potential outcome the ‘biggest pay-per-view’ of Silva’s career since he began fighting.

However, Anderson Silva recently denied what Paul had earlier been saying. According to him, he never entertained the idea of fighting for money. The only reason he chose to fight Paul was that he had a legacy to think of and ‘respected’ fighting.

To Paul’s ‘biggest payday’ claim, Silva said, “No, it’s not true. I don’t like to talk about money because I’m not here for money. Thanks to God I have enough money to take care of my family.’

In addition, Silva even claimed that he was not a rich guy but tried to live a good life. According to Silva, he woke up every day to train and spar with his kids and younger fighters in order to continue ‘respecting’ the sport that has earned him life and given him global fame.

To supplement his statement that he did not fight for money, Silva borrowed an example from his earlier life. Reminiscing about his past, Silva spoke about having four fights in one day to earn only $200 from all the fights combined. He recounted driving for a stretch of hours to fight four times the same night.

Although he was only a blue belt at the time, Silva soon picked up MMA and knew how to fight. Silva, who has traveled the world, competing and fighting, looks to continue adding glory to his name.
