Everybody loves a little drama, especially when it unfolds on social media for everyone to follow along with a bucket of popcorn. Well, something similar has transpired on X of late, involving WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis and former super middleweight contender Edgar Berlanga. You must be wondering, what exactly went down?

Get your choice of snacks ready because this one has a fair number of heavy blows. Davis and Berlanga were never on the best of terms with each other. However, earlier today, in a bizarre twist, ‘The Chosen One’ chose to attack Davis, writing, “Tank is a**,” and went on to claim that Davis was supposed to fight Jose Valenzuela but backed out because “He’s scared… he seen how he looked against [Isaac] Pitbull [Cruz].”

To add insult to injury, the 27-year-old Brooklyn-born boxer wrote, “Ima call you Chihuahua you ain’t no f**king tank.” This prompted an immediate retort from the ‘Face of Boxing,’ who quickly reminded Berlanga about his accolades in the sport in a now-deleted tweet. “I was champ at 21-22..you 23 [right now] and from the outside looking in you probably not gonna be champ [any] time soon..,” Davis wrote.

It’s worth noting that Davis also shared a sparring clip of Berlanga against former WBC super welterweight challenger Erickson Lubin from years ago. During the sparring session, Lubin dropped Berlanga with a short hook. Highlighting the video, Davis added in his tweet, “Kid so busy pointing fingers no[t] realizing he [hasn’t] done s**t still.”

Watching Davis unearth buried skeletons, the 27-year-old had no intention of staying idle. The Puerto Rican native immediately hopped back on the platform to claim, “You posting a video that’s 6 years ago clown.” ‘The Chosen One’ added that he would rock Davis’ chin so hard that Davis would start “doing the cha cha slide.”

However, Berlanga didn’t stop there. His ego seems to have gotten bruised during this online exchange of derogation.

Edgar Berlanga roped in Ryan Garcia to expose Gervonta Davis

Berlanga is coming off a pretty one-sided 12-round loss against Canelo Alvarez earlier this month. Davis and Berlanga had gotten into a similar situation after the fight as well, with Davis criticizing Berlanga’s lack of skills to pose any threat to the Mexican boxing legend. Regardless, after Davis shared the sparring footage today, Berlanga had to prove Davis was a “sucker.”

Continuing his rampage of tweets, Berlanga claimed he wants to square off against the best in the game, unlike Davis who carefully picks his opponents. However, Berlanga added, “The first person you fought that was a threat [Ryan Garcia] you put a weight clause on him so he be weak. You a sucker.”

Despite being in two different weight classes, it appears Gervonta Davis and Edgar Berlanga are at each other’s throats. Berlanga was talking about moving to heavyweight earlier—perhaps he should move the other way to fight ‘Tank’ after this exchange. Would you be down for it?
