Legendary heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is one of the most decorated fighters in boxing history. His list of accolades have earned him global recognition, but recently, fans came together to celebrate something a little more personal: ‘Iron’ Mike’s birthday. Now, the real Mike Tyson fans might already spot something wrong with that claim.

Born on June 30, 1966, in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, New York, the youngest heavyweight champion in history is still two months shy of his 59th birthday. Yet, for reasons unknown, Mike Tyson decided to celebrate early this year. While it could be due to upcoming commitments or scheduled events, a birthday post from Tyson himself left fans completely bamboozled.

Why is Mike Tyson celebrating his birthday early?

Earlier today, the 58-year-old shared a lighthearted video on Facebook of himself celebrating his birthday ahead of schedule, captioned simply, “Make a wish.” In the clip, Tyson is seen surrounded by guests as they sing Happy Birthday. “Why, thank you, everybody,” he says, smiling. “I’m just thinking—57 years ago I was born, huh?” he adds, reflecting on the moment.

The former world champion then attempts to blow out the candles, only to discover they’re the tricky kind. “Why are you guys f**** with me? This is crazy, right?” he said excitedly, clearly having fun while acting frustrated. Something to note is that in the video, Tyson said, “I’m just thinking—57 years ago I was born, huh?” This could potentially mean that this was an old video, which was mistakenly posted on his Facebook account.

Regardless of the reason though, people quickly started discussing the abnormality in the comment section.

Fans wish Tyson for the day despite the confusion

Tyson has a super loyal fan base, so it didn’t take long for people to start asking questions. One user pointed out the unusual situation, “Nobody’s going to talk about the fact that Mike’s birthday is in June though??” As mentioned before, there’s a possibility the clip is old and maybe was a mistake.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Mike Tyson's early birthday celebration leave you puzzled, or is it just classic Tyson humor?

The next user ignored the date and decided to wish Tyson a Happy Birthday anyway. “Happy Birthday, Iron Man Mike, even though I thought your birthday was in June. By the way, those are trick candles,” the user commented. The user may get another opportunity to wish Tyson two months from now.

Another user started questioning themselves. “His birthday is in June. Am I wrong?” the user wrote. Interestingly, Tyson celebrated his 52nd birthday early due to scheduling issues, which kept him busy on his actual birthday. Amid the confusion, one user chimed in with a simple fact-check, writing, “Mike Tyson was born June 30th, 1966.” However, this didn’t help anyone get to the bottom of the issue.

Meanwhile, this user was focusing on something else. “Oooohhh mann was waiting for him to punch the cake being frustrated with them candles!!” the user commented. Fortunately, Tyson didn’t actually do it, but that would be a sight to behold.

That said, it seems that whoever manages Mike Tyson’s Facebook page may have taken fans for a bit of a ride with the unusual birthday clip. But the real question remains: Was Tyson genuinely celebrating his birthday early, or was this just an old video posted as a throwback—or perhaps even by mistake?
