Former IBF Junior lightweight titlist Rober Garcia reflected on a recent heartwarming gesture from Gervonta Davis while revealing Oscar De La Hoya’s charitable act. Earlier this week, Gervonta Davis went back to his roots in Baltimore to buy a nine-house block in his childhood neighborhood of Sandtown, Winchester. As per reports, Davis – who owns GTD Development, has acquired the properties and will renovate the homes. These homes will be converted into affordable housing for the people in the Baltimore community.

Robert Garcia calls Gervonta Davis a ‘Bada*s’

Today, the retired boxer and legendary trainer appeared in an interview with Elie Seckbach. When probed about his thoughts on Davis’ contribution to his childhood neighborhood, Garcia remarked that Davis is a “bada*s”, claiming there is nothing bad he could say about that. He then diverted his attention to Oscar De La Hoya, prompting Seckbach to reveal Oscar’s donation of a million dollars to the hospital where his mother passed away.

“Badass! F**king can’t hate on that s**t,” Garcia said about Davis. “Obviously, he is making that kind of money to be able to do s**t like that. Oscar bought the property where he used to train,” revealed Garcia. Seckbach added to it another contribution of his from 2022. “he donated recently. I was with Oscar; he donated [a] million dollars to the hospital where his mom passed away!” Garcia responded, “Yeah, that’s what I mean.” While Garcia branded Davis a bada*s, the City Council President, Nick Mosby, had a lot more to say about Davis.

Mosby: he literally carries the city of Baltimore on his back

During Thursday’s press conference, Nick Mosby claimed he remembers the time Davis asked to speak to some teens who were incarcerated. The teens were awaiting trial as adults, and, as per Mosby, Davis was enthusiastic to speak to them. He went on to suggest that Davis travels the world, representing the city of Baltimore on his own.

Mosby added that Davis’ decision to come back and contribute to his hometown is truly special. “Tank, when he goes around the world, he literally carries the city of Baltimore on his back,” Mosby said. “For you to come back, invest in your hometown, invest in your community, and invest in your block — is truly, truly special,” said Mosby.

While reflecting on Davis’ kind gesture, Rober ‘Grandpa’ Garcia unearths an act of charity from Oscar De La Hoya. It just goes to show  – even though – these boxers have achieved unparalleled success in their careers, they still have their roots firmly planted to where they came from.
