Ahead of his first fight with Liam Smith, Chris Eubank Jr. expected the crowd in Manchester to boo him. However, Eubank Jr. declared that he was ready to face the situation “where people are against me or wanting me to lose“. Along these lines, he added, “I’m definitely getting cheered out.” In that connection, the 33-year-old called for “the war”.

However, in an unexpected turn of events, Eubank Jr. suffered a knockdown for the first time and eventually lost the fight via TKO in the ring. Ahead of the rematch with Smith, in an interview with Sky Sports, Eubank Jr. reiterated his desire for “a war” with Smith on September 2nd. However, contrary to Eubank Jr.’s expectation, trainer Brian McIntyre has something entirely different planned.

Brian McIntyre lays emphasis on simple one-on-one boxing

McIntyre was glad that both fighters made weight in their first attempts. “I thought both of them were disciplined in their camps because coming on weight. Didn’t have to try to re-weigh. So, it was good for both of them,” McIntyre said. Along these lines, the trainer announced that the route to success for them was in simple one-on-one boxing. “The route to success is simple one-on-one boxing,” he added. And instead of a war, McIntyre wished to demonstrate “a boxing lesson“.

We don’t want a war. We’re not in there to have a war. We’re in there to show a boxing lesson,” he concluded.

“Everything is on the line” for Chris Eubank Jr.

While McIntyre hoped for one-on-one boxing, Eubank Jr. who had an “exciting” experience last time, declared that this was a very pivotal fight in his career. Speaking to Sky Sports, he announced that everything was on the line. “This is do or die. This is a very pivotal fight in my career. Everything is on the line. It’s gonna be a war,” he said.
