March 1, 2025, is a date that will sting a lot of boxing fans, especially if you are an admirer of Tank. If you were tuned in that night, you already know what happened. Everyone’s got their own theory. Some say Gervonta Davis did enough to get the win and the draw was fine too. Others claim Lamont Roach Jr. was cheated out of a well-deserved victory. One thing everyone can agree is, Roach gave Gervonta Davis a fight he’ll remember for the rest of his life.
Since the controversial draw, Gervonta Davis has been unusually quiet. It’s like he’s keeping it all under wraps. Meanwhile, Lamont Roach Jr.? Oh, he’s out here spilling tea like confetti. We’re not sure how Roach plans to step back into the ring, but one thing’s for sure—he’s already scoring jabs outside of it. And in his latest interview, he shut down the Gervonta Davis fanbase with the kind of confidence that makes you wonder if maybe people underestimated The Reaper all along.

Gervonta Davis not one to mess up a $40 million payday
Just a few hours ago, Roach sat down with undefeated boxing veteran Andre Ward on his YouTube show, All the Smoke Fight, and let’s just say—he wasn’t holding back. During the segment, the two broke down all those swirling theories that Gervonta Davis “took it easy” on Roach. And naturally, The Reaper had to shut that down with straight facts. No fluff, just logic—and he delivered. Remember, Jake Paul was reportedly lined up to fight Gervonta Davis after Tank “handled” Roach easily? But with how things went down in the ring, Roach reflected on how Tank muddled up the big fight with Paul. “They say, he’s [Gervonta Davis] supposed to fight Jake Paul next after he was supposed to clean me up,” he shared. “Jake Paul’s going to guarantee you about $40 million if the fight is with a notable person, which is Tank.”

This, according to Lamont Roach Jr. is no small bag. So Roach asked the obvious: “Why would he take it easy on me? Why would he sacrifice that?” Especially if this Jake Paul fight is being floated as his retirement fight, his big “exit plan,” it wouldn’t make sense for him to “take it easy” on Roach as many Tank Davis fans assert.
Roach took the question straight to boxing legend: “Would you ever sacrifice what you worked so hard for? Your record? Your legacy?”… just for a quick win. Ward, ever the composed champion, kept it real. “It might be somebody out there that would. [But] I ain’t the guy,” Ward replied. To which, the 25-1 boxer doubled down with a little grin: “It sure ain’t him.”
What’s your perspective on:
Did Gervonta Davis really take it easy on Roach, or is Roach just that good?
Have an interesting take?
The message was clear. Lamont Roach doesn’t think Gervonta Davis is dumb enough to jeopardize a $40 million payday or tarnish his legacy just to take the Roach fight lightly. So with the canceled fight with Jake Paul, and a rematch looming (possibly around June 21 in Las Vegas), what’s next for Tank?
J Prince flirts with the idea of managing Gervonta Davis

In a recent chat with Fight Hub TV, J Prince kept it real about the fight everyone’s been waiting for: Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson. He broke it down simply, stating, “I think the people involved just have to want to make the fight.” And when it comes to money? Prince made it clear: “Ain’t no loser in that fight.” All Gervonta Davis has to do, according to him, is stand tall and say, “Let’s get it on, homie.” But here’s where it gets a little messy.

Before his fight with Lamont Roach Jr., the Baltimore native was asked about facing the Newark southpaw. To which he kind of brushed it off, saying Shakur Stevenson hadn’t done much in the sport. Naturally, that didn’t sit well with Shakur’s manager, J Prince. He fired back, calling Tank’s comment nothing more than “an excuse and an exit plan.”
Moreover, as the interview went on, Prince said he’d actually love to work with the Baltimore native one day. He even said, “I could befriend him and take him to the next level.” So what does that mean? Basically, while his guy Shakur Stevenson is trying to take Tank down in the ring, J Prince is already thinking a few steps ahead, possibly teaming up with the same guy in the future!
With that said, is Lamont Roach Jr. finally getting the respect he deserves, or just stirring the pot? Do share your thoughts with us below.
