It was a dream lineup—the clash that tops every die-hard fan’s bucket list. Tyson Fury will meet Oleksandr Usyk early in 2023. It became a major headline. In the new year, talks commenced. But what happened afterward? The talks floundered, with both sides holding each other responsible for the collapse of the fight. But as it turns out, there remains a flicker of hope. At least, that’s what Usyk’s manager conveyed during an interview.

Both parties subsequently moved on. While Fury takes on Francis Ngannou in October, Usyk defends his titles against Daniel Dubois tomorrow. So Alex Krassyuk was talking to Boxing News and when asked about Frank Warren‘s recent comments on an undisputed battle for the Heavyweight title taking place, Usyk’s promoter shared that he, too, was in the know of such updates. But he assured that considering its significance, they are willing to provide whatever support it takes to bring the fight to fruition, as they had previously done.

He said, “I can tell you from my side [that] we will do whatever [is] needed to make it happen. We proved it in the past, and we’re [going to] be proving it in the future.” With much self-assurance, he continued that once Usyk is done with the Dubois business, their next target is the big fight.

Their goal, however, is not to defeat anyone in particular. Instead, they want to be a part of a significant chapter in Heavyweight boxing. Putting the ball in Fury’s court, Krassyuk shared that the bout stands a chance if the Englishman consents to the fight. They will move ahead to other channels to make the undisputed dream happen.

So when the interviewer asked for the next course of action from the Ukrainian camp, Krassyuk replied, “I tell you something, these discussions never stop, so they are in progress all the time. Uh,  once also keeps three belts, and Tyson keeps one, and we are the promoters. We have to be in touch, but it doesn’t bring much result, unfortunately.”

Call it a day, then?

So what does that mean? Is there still any hope for fans to see Fury and Usyk entering the ring at opposite corners? Alex Krassyuk shared his side of the story and what is being done on their end. His words are probably enough to reignite the sagging hopes of many who wish to see the biggest Heavyweight clash of the modern era. However, only time can tell how the next round of talks will unfold.
