Earlier this year, Salt Papi went toe-to-toe with Anthony Taylor. Unfortunately, Papi saw his undefeated record get tarnished at the hands of Taylor. While Papi did not challenge Taylor for a rematch, he wanted to redeem his loss. Hence, the hard-hitting Filipino man claimed he wanted to go up against Slim Albaher. Lo and behold, the two are facing each other in the undercard of KSI vs. Tommy Fury and Dillon Danis vs. Logan Paul. However, unbeknownst to many, the fight almost did not happen.

After Papi initially challenged the American Youtuber turned boxer, the latter refused to fight Papi. In response, Papi claimed he wanted to get in the ring with Slim. But he made it clear that if Slim wasn’t up for the challenge, there was little anyone could do. However, when KSI took to X (former Twitter), claiming Sulieman ‘Slim’ Albaher was ducking Salt Papi because he was scared of losing – the truth came out.

Why did Slim refuse to fight Salt Papi?

On 8 August earlier this year, KSI tweeted, “Slim has officially ducked Salt Papi lmao. What a b***h.” In addition, KSI claimed Papi even offered to fight Slim at 165lbs, but Slim did not respond. “He even asked to fight him at 165. Salt Papi said sure. Now Slim has gone missing,” KSI wrote in the tweet.

Responding to the tweet from KSI, Slim retorted on X by claiming the only thing he avoided was the offer extended to him. In plain words, Slim meant he wanted a larger sum of money to get inside the ring with Salt Papi. In a later tweet, Slim explicitly explained that Papi and him would be the most entertaining fight of the night, so they should be paid what they are worth. “Papi and I would 100 percent be the most exciting/Entertaining fight of the night. Just want what it’s worth, then we in there,” Slim wrote.

There was even a debate among fans, with many arguing that the offer made to Slim was more than generous. However, Slim did not agree with the proposed numbers. Later, to everyone’s surprise, the fight was eventually announced. So, it appears the organizers agreed to pay Slim his desired figure.
