Stephen Fulton is fresh off a narrow victory over Carlos Castro on Saturday night in Las Vegas, marking his return to the ring after suffering his first career loss to Naoya Inoue in 2023. Now, the boxing world is buzzing about a potential matchup between Fulton and former WBC super bantamweight champion Luis Nery for his next bout.

Earlier today, Dan the Boxing Man turned to X, sharing a post expressing the same idea with his followers. While Fulton made his successful comeback, Nery is still recovering from his last loss to Inoue in May, where he dropped Inoue for the first time and then got knocked out in the 6th round. Seeing this potential matchup, fans quickly clamored to the post to share their predictions.

Stephen Fulton vs. Luis Nery

Turning to X, Dan the Boxing Man wrote, “I wouldn’t mind this fight being next.” Besides the fact that both fighters were beaten by Inoue at one point, the duo have never crossed paths before. However, it would make for an interesting matchup if Fulton would like to avenge his loss down the line against Inoue.

The best way to do that would be by beating the guy Inoue defeated in a better way. Plus, after his win over Castro last Saturday, he even claimed, “I feel stronger, I feel better, but this is my first fight back in 14 months. Ring rust is out of the way, and I feel like I did an amazing job.” While Cool Boy Steph seems confident about his comeback, fans felt Nery would beat him if the fight ever happened.

Bruce Carrington roped in

Despite currently being in two different divisions, the idea of this fight was exciting for the public. One user felt Nery would easily win the fight. The user wrote, “I think Nery might stop Cool boy.” Considering Fulton’s last fight, Nery wouldn’t have much problem getting rid of the 30-year-old.

Another user didn’t mince his words to predict his winner. “Nery by ko,” the user wrote. Nery has knocked out his last three opponents before Inoue and maintains a 77.14% KO ratio, so the user’s prediction isn’t farfetched.

Meanwhile, this user seemed pleased about this matchup for Fulton. “Great fight for @coolboysteph 🏆,” the user wrote. In fact, this fight will be the biggest challenge for Fulton after Inoue.

While others were sharing their predictions, this user roped in Bruce Carrington. The user wrote, “I’d rather see Shu Shu Carrington fight either one…” Interestingly, Carrington is currently slated to square off against Sulaiman Segawa on 27th September, so the fight might have to wait for late 2025.

Someone else chimed in, but their prediction reflected others. The user wrote, “Nery stopping fulton.” It appears Fulton doesn’t have much support if this fight goes down. And perhaps it’s the exact reason he should try to prove everyone wrong.

Many fans believe that Luis Nery would overpower Stephen Fulton in a head-to-head clash. However, whether this prediction holds true remains to be seen until they actually step into the ring. Who do you think would come out on top?
