She had said, “I just won the Olympics in 2016. And now we’re in 2018, and this will be my seventh belt. So, I am above the average. I am the greatest woman of all time.” 

Now, after almost four years and following the announcement of Claressa Shields vs. Savannah Marshall, the latter focusing on Shields’ earlier statement provides something interesting to the fans.

Following the official announcement of Shields vs. Marshall, BBC Sport shared a brief clip of their interaction with Silent Assassin.

The following is what Marshall told about Shields and their upcoming fight:

“Look, I respect Claressa. What she’s done for the sport is amazing. I think she’s just an absolute headache. You’re this world champion. Act like it. I think she’s going for the Mayweather effect. She’s trying to get the haters to watch her. But the reality is no one watches her. So, it’s not really working out for her, is it?”

“She’s the only person calling herself ‘the greatest woman of all time.’ I mean, she’s got this stupid daft necklace that she wears. And when I beat her, I’m going to say, “can I have that necklace now?” she added.

The duo first met at the 2012 AIBA World Championships. Shields was only seventeen and Marshall was twenty-one. The American lost via decision, but this time around she speaks of avenging her only career loss in boxing.
