Fighting on the undercard of Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson live on Netflix, the streaming giant reported that over 50 million households tuned in to watch the fight live. Just like the last time, Serrano and Taylor came to knock each other’s heads off. Despite the best efforts from Serrano, Taylor secured a unanimous decision victory.

Taylor was reportedly paid $6.1 million for the fight, and Serrano has claimed she made even more than Taylor from the fight, putting their combined purse well over a whopping $12 million. The two women broke purse records and viewership records, furthering the cause for women’s boxing.

So, during a recent conversation with a representative from Most Valuable Promotions, Walton referenced Serrano and Taylor’s groundbreaking achievement to inspire women to take the next step in boxing, emphasizing the possibilities and opportunities for female fighters in the sport. “I would say, I mean, go for it,” Walton said when asked for his advice.

“If it’s something you’re super passionate about and it’s something that you want to pursue—that’s definitely something that you should do,” he said. “Women’s boxing is growing by the day. You have greats that you could look at such as you know, Amanda Serrano, Katie Taylor, and I mean the list goes on and on for the great women boxers.”

He concluded, “So if you’re a girl and you’re trying to get into boxing, nobody’s stopping you. You know, if that’s a dream that you want to pursue, then I say you go balls to the walls on it.” Meanwhile, Walton has his own test coming up.

Javon Walton returns to boxing against Erik Hanley

Walton returns to the ring on December 13 to face Erik Hanley in a four-round super featherweight bout at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. Walton’s fight was originally scheduled for September but was canceled after he was declared medically unfit due to an infection.

His promoter, Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, expressed their disappointment, stating, “Javon’s well-being is our top priority. We are confident that he will make a full recovery and return to the ring stronger than ever.” Despite the setback, Walton has been hard at work in the gym, pushing through intense training sessions.

A recent Instagram clip shared by MPV shows Walton’s battered hands, captioned, “Wanna Walton’s hands after training…” The young fighter is determined to make a statement after a majority draw in his previous bout against Joshua Torres, hoping to bounce back and showcase his full potential.
