Ryan Garcia is on a mission for redemption following his controversial fight in April last year, while Rolly Romero appears to be up to his usual antics. The Victorville native tested positive for Ostarine twice during his bout against former undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney, resulting in a one-year suspension from boxing. That suspension is set to be lifted in April 2025, and just a month later—on May 2—Garcia will step into the ring against Romero.

The fight will take place in the heart of Times Square in New York City, which will be transformed into a boxing venue for the highly anticipated tripleheader. The event will also feature Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez in separate matchups. Notably, Garcia and Haney are expected to face off later this year. However, with over a month to go before his clash with Romero, Garcia has already issued a preemptive warning against any of Romero’s usual antics. Known for his trash talk and ability to turn fights into heated grudge matches, Romero thrives on stirring the pot. But this time, Garcia doesn’t seem interested in playing along.

“Rollie’s ima let you know thru this tweet and I hope you understand this truly,” Garcia wrote on X. “I’m not taking you lightly at all, I’m coming with some real f**king anger and I’m sorry it has to be you. You can say all the funny s**t you are going to say Tuesday, but if you cross the line ima slap the f**k outta you. I promise you.”

“You are here to be f**king funny that’s it, funny is what got you here so don’t change course,” the 26-year-old continued. “Grandpa [Ismael Barroso] had your a** fighting for your life and Pitbull [Isaac Cruz] had you looking for Easter eggs in the ring. And I’m have you lay your gloves down in the ring like a MMA fighter’s retiring!!!”

However, the question is, will Garcia’s threatening message affect Romero?

Rolly Romero warns Ryan Garcia

Rolly Romero has fired verbal shots at Ryan Garcia ahead of their May 2 clash in New York’s Times Square. The fight, set at 147 lbs, marks both fighters’ welterweight debuts and will have a secondary WBA welterweight title on the line. Romero has been calling out Garcia for years and made it clear he’s ready for war.

“I’ve been calling this boy out for a very long time… I got the biggest balls in boxing and I am the biggest s**t talker in the game,” Romero declared. Despite Garcia’s past weight struggles—most notably missing weight against Devin Haney—Romero isn’t concerned. “He can miss weight with me. I don’t give a f**k,” he added.

Having said that, it appears both sides have started firing verbal bullets at each other, making their eventual clash an exciting affair. However, the main question is, who do you have winning the fight?
