Ryan Garcia has had enough of Golden Boy

Garcia’s action came after a series of controversies and conflicts. The controversy unfolded as Garcia took center stage at the press conference of his upcoming fight,  and took aim at his promoters. Now, tensions have escalated further on the day of his big match. Garcia, as confirmed by sources, has banned his promoters from setting foot in his locker room.

Particularly, on Garcia’s firing line was Bernard Hopkins, Golden Boy’s co-founder, who had previously stated that he would assess Garcia’s performance against Duarte before deciding on the young boxer’s future in the sport. Garcia, with defiance in his voice, made it clear that such decisions lie with his coach, team, and those who grind with him day in and day out.

Subsequently, Garcia redirected his criticism toward Oscar De La Hoya, who had defended Hopkins on social media, urging Garcia to focus on his craft. Garcia, unswayed, called out his promoters for seemingly backing Duarte over him, drawing parallels to a past bout where the odds were against him.

Oscar De La Hoya shows concern over Garcia’s state of being

The crux of Garcia’s discontent stems from Hopkins’ recent statement, creating an unusual public confrontation that now fuels the ban on the promoters from his locker room. The tension between the trio is palpable, and it’s clear that this locker room saga is far from a mere squabble. Hopkins told Fight Hub TV that he is not “in the business of kissing a**, telling them something that they’re not. Now I will promote a fight, but I will not promote a lie.”

The drama escalated further when De La Hoya, in a since-deleted tweet, expressed concern about Garcia’s mental state and focused on the upcoming fight. This added fuel to the fire, with Garcia reportedly outraged but choosing to address the issue after the bout with Duarte.
