Despite never officially stepping in the ring for a bout, Sylvester Stallone is an icon of the sport. Through his beloved ‘Rocky’ movies, Stallone has motivated countless young prospects to take up the sweet science. For his efforts, the 77-year-old actor has racked up a bunch of awards, including several nominations in the Academy Awards.

As the Oscars came back around, the legendary actor hopped on social media to reminisce about the good old days. Right beside the reel boxing legend, the real boxing legend, Muhammad Ali, graced the frame. In addition, to celebrate the auspicious day, Stallone penned a heartwarming message for his devoted fans.

Sylvester Stallone claims the Oscars are special

Turning to Instagram, Stallone shared three pictures of himself from the 1977 Academy Award ceremony. One with a giant replica of the Academy Award of Merit, the second with Ali. And in the third, Stallone decided to take a shot at the golden lady. Alongside the pictures, Stallone wrote, “The Oscars are a special one. Good luck to all the nominees tonight. Keep punching.”

Back in 1977, Rocky was nominated for a total of ten Academy Awards, including Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay nominations for Stallone. During the 49th Award ceremony, the film went on to win awards for Best Picture, Best Directing, and Best Film Editing. While Sylvester Stallone didn’t win any awards in this year’s Oscars, he did manage to nab some – he might not have wanted.

The Razzie Awards 2024

Unlike the Academy Awards, the Razzies recognize the worst in the industry. Unlucky for Stallone, he had the dishonor of winning a fair few nominations. While films like ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie’ will sweep the awards during Sunday’s Oscars, Stallone ruled over the Razzies for his role in ‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’ & the fourth ‘Expandable.’

Held on March 8, Stallone’s ‘Blood and Honey,’ a horror adaptation of ‘Winnie the Pooh,’ took home awards for worst picture, director and screenplay, screen couple (Pooh and Piglet), and remake/rip-off/sequel. Stallone even got the award for supporting actor categories for ‘Expend4bles.’

With that said, the Oscars reminded Sylvester Stallone of the days when he was honored with the prestigious Academy Awards. However, the same can not be said about the present day! Despite that, Stallone took time to reminisce while wishing the best to all the nominations.
