Former champions Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. had one of the most iconic rivalries in the sport. However, the duo seems to have set the bad blood aside. In fact, he recently revealed he’s moving to Las Vegas to work with Mayweather.

Hoya was in an interview with FightHype.  In conversation, he was asked about his former opponent, Floyd Mayweather Jr. Hoya responded by mentioning that the bad blood between the duo was in the past.

Moreover, he also had a few choice words of appreciation for his former opponent. Meanwhile, Hoya also called Mayweather a trailblazer by stating, “Everything that he is, or he was or how he was promoting. Like he was a pioneer. He’s a pioneer if you think about it. Like everything that he stands for. Everything that he did, you know in the past, in the present now, what he’s going to do in the future. It’s like he’s leading the way.”

Hoya also opened up about the possibility of working with Mayweather. He said, “Let’s move on, let’s possibly work together, you know. I’m telling Floyd that ‘look I’m actually moving to Vegas.”

Additionally, Hoya also mentioned that his home in Las Vegas will be ready by May 2023. And he also added that he was excited about the prospect of potentially working with Mayweather.

It is worth noting that the fight was one of the most highly anticipated events in boxing. In fact, as a part of the hype, HBO ran a 24/7 De Hoya-Mayweather show which took the viewers to the fighter’s training camps.

The duo faced each other at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada on May 5, 2007. Moreover, Mayweather was declared the winner by decision after 12 rounds. However, boxing fans were divided in opinion, with many fans considering Hoya the real victor.
