Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is coming off his unanimous decision loss to YouTube star Jake Paul on Friday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Now, he has another offer at hand, but he doesn’t seem to be much interested in making the fight. As you might have guessed, the offer was from Tyson’s old rival, now friend and business partner, Evander Holyfield.

Earlier today, talkSport editor Michael Benson hopped on X to reveal an exchange between Tyson and Holyfield that took place on Instagram. So, what happened? ‘The Real Deal’ Holyfield took to the social media platform to share a poster for a fight between him and Tyson, with the caption reading, “The fans want it.” 

The duo had a legendary yet controversial two fights back in the late 90s. In their first fight, Holyfield emerged victorious with an 11th-round knockout, sparking immediate talk of a rematch. The following year, the two faced off again in the ring, but this time the outcome would be far more dire, as Tyson shocked the world by doing the unthinkable. 

The biggest boxing fans among you would remember what happened. Frustrated by repeated headbutts from Holyfield, Tyson took matters into his own ‘mouth’ and bit off a chunk of Holyfield’s ear. The result was immediate, Tyson was disqualified, his boxing license suspended, and he was fined $3 million. 

Despite their tumultuous past, Tyson recently found Holyfield’s post on Instagram and wasted no time in responding. “I love you brother, but our trilogy is our friendship,” Tyson wrote back. That said, Tyson was seen biting again in the Jake Paul fight. Do you know why?

After the Evander Holyfield bout, Tyson would never get the heavyweight championship title back. He got the opportunity against Lennox Lewis but lost that fight via an 8th-round knockout. Regardless, while fighting Paul last Friday, fans noticed Tyson was biting on his boxing gloves. It was unusual, but no one knew why. 

When asked about it during the post-fight interview, Tyson made the stunning revelation. “Oh, I have a habit of biting my gloves yes,” he said. “Um, I have a biting fixation,” Tyson said when Ariel Helwani, the interviewer, persisted. Shocked, Helwani shot back, “I’ve heard about that,” referencing the Holyfield ‘bite fight’ incident, noting, “I don’t want to know more.”

It appears despite hinting at wanting to continue fighting after Jake Paul, Mike Tyson isn’t interested in facing old foes. Rather, as he claimed in the ring on Friday, he may want to fight Paul’s brother Logan Paul. Do you think Tyson should fight Holyfield? And who would win?
