WBA super featherweight champion Lamont Roach Jr. is absolutely popping off since his surprising and controversial fight against Gervonta Davis. Despite being the ultimate underdog, going into the fight, Roach Jr. matched Davis’ power and skills to ultimately produce a majority decision draw. So, what should be the obvious next step for the two?  A rematch, right? There are talks of a rematch between the pair, with rumors floating around about a June 21st date. However, nothing official has come out of it quite yet. In the meantime, though, Roach Jr.’s father has shed more light on his son’s future after the rematch. It’s worth noting that, right after the fight, offers had started pouring in.

Initially, Shakur Stevenson had shown interest, offering Roach Jr. a fight if Davis didn’t give him a rematch. However, Lamont Roach Sr. has someone else in mind for his son to face. Yep! And the opponent is no joke—he is a champion in the lightweight division as well. It’s not Davis, as he is supposed to fight Roach Jr. in a rematch anyway.

It’s not WBC title holder Shakur Stevenson, and it’s not even IBF champion Vasyl Lomachenko, who is most likely retired from the sport of boxing. This leaves only one man—WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis. Speaking to Fight Hype recently, Roach Sr. said, “That’d be a great fight too,” when asked about a potential Keyshawn Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr.

“He got the belt at 135, so we want to fight all the best,” he continued. “Keyshawn, right now, is one of the best at 135, so we got to handle our business and he got to handle his business. If it lines up, that’s next.” Interestingly, ‘The Businessman’ has also shown openness to fighting Roach Jr. in a fight.

However, Keyshawn Davis is supposed to fight Edwin De Los Santos next, though the fight has not been officially announced quite yet. Regardless, Roach Sr. has also provided an update on his son’s rematch against Davis.
