You’ve heard of David vs. Goliath, but what happens when David faces David? That’s exactly what’s set to unfold tonight as David Benavidez and David Morrell collide in Las Vegas for the WBC ‘Interim’ and WBA (Regular) super middleweight titles. However, hours before the fight, fast-rising prospect Keyshawn Davis called out fans for their unfair treatment of Benavidez.

You see, despite Benavidez’s dominant performances in the past, some people are doubtful whether he can replicate his past performances against Morrell. This speculation became even more evident after Benavidez’s fight against Oleksandr Gvozdyk last year when he fought in the light heavyweight division.

‘The Mexican Monster’ looked slower than usual, and given Morrell’s extensive amateur career, the fight seems like a much bigger challenge for Benavidez. However, Keyshawn Davis has other ideas. While appearing in an interview with Boxing News from his Top Rank boxing gym, the 25-year-old shared his thoughts about Benavidez’s fight and how fans have treated him.

“I think David [Benavidez]…,” Davis said when asked about his prediction for the fight. “Morrell [will] probably put up a great fight… But I just feel like David Benavidez—it’s not his first big showdown.” Later in the interview, he claimed Benavidez is way better than what fans give him credit for. “I just feel like David Benavidez is different,” he said.

David Benavidez threatened to beat ‘the f**k out of’ David Morrell

David Benavidez issued a bold threat to his rival, David Morrell, during their ceremonial weigh-in on Friday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. ‘The Mexican Monster’ stood face-to-face with Morrell and made it clear that he was prepared to dominate the fight. “I’m gonna beat the f**k out of David Morrell,” he said confidently as the crowd erupted in cheers.

The two fighters weighed in at 174.2 pounds, officially setting the stage for their 12-round bout. Benavidez, a 2-1 favorite, made no secret of his desire to prove his superiority, emphasizing that Morrell would soon “see who ‘The Mexican Monster’ is.” The winner of this bout will become the mandatory challenger for the WBC title, awaiting the outcome of the upcoming rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.

Despite some doubts surrounding David Benavidez ahead of his upcoming fight with David Morrell, the undefeated boxer has remained a favorite in the eyes of many, as reflected by the odds. Who do you think will come out on top?
