Joe Rogan doesn’t think Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis is a boxer to be taken lightly. The IBF welterweight champion has been chasing a bout against Terence Crawford for a while now. While ‘Bud’ has moved on to super welterweight in pursuit of eventually securing a fight against Canelo Alvarez, Ennis is determined to secure a Crawford fight.

This led the UFC commentator and podcaster to express his thoughts on the Philadelphia native in his latest episode of the Joe Rogan Experience. While speaking about Crawford not getting a shot against Canelo Alvarez, Rogan highlighted how Ennis is a formidable opponent for Crawford and even warned him about potentially getting in the ring with Boots.

Joe Rogan suspects Terence Crawford just wants the big-money fight

Discussing the subject, Rogan told his guest, the UFC welterweight champion, Belal Muhammad, “Crawford, I think, just wants the big money fight. Canelo’s the big-money fight.” Rogan has always been impressed by what Crawford has managed to do in his career thus far, as he praised the 36-year-old.

However, he speculated that all Crawford is looking for is, “one big money fight and get the f**k out of here.” It’s worth mentioning that Crawford is the first male boxer to achieve undisputed status in two different weight classes in the four belt era—he also has titles in four different weight classes, meaning he is one of the very few to have achieved such laurels in boxing.

Regardless, Rogan claimed Crawford has Ennis “knocking on his door too, which is another amazing fight. But super dangerous.” He elaborated, “Just like Benavidez is dangerous [for Canelo], ‘Boots’ Ennis is very f**king dangerous [for Terence Crawford].” However, the thing is, Crawford has previously openly admitted that the fight would never happen.

Even with Crawford’s intention to move up to super middleweight, the fight seems highly unlikely. If Joe Rogan is right in assuming Crawford is seeking one final big-money bout, it becomes even more improbable. But then again, if you consider what Eddie Hearn just said about Crawford, none of this actually matters.

Eddie Hearn claims Canelo Alvarez is the key to stopping Crawford’s retirement

Eddie Hearn claimed that Canelo Alvarez is the only opponent who can stop Terence Crawford from retiring. Speaking to talkSPORT, Hearn said, “I don’t think Terence Crawford will fight again” unless it’s for a big payday, specifically against Canelo. He added, “I don’t think he wants to fight Vergil Ortiz. I don’t think he wants to fight Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.”

Crawford recently acquired the WBA light middleweight title, but according to Hearn, he’s more interested in financial rewards than unifying the division. “He’s got used to that pay bracket, and I don’t think that pay bracket exists anymore outside of Canelo Alvarez,” Hearn explained.

Regardless, with Canelo slated to fight Edgar Berlanga, Hearn believes Crawford may sit out until a potential matchup with Alvarez materializes. “In his mind, something will come up,” Hearn said, suggesting that without the lure of a Canelo fight, Crawford could be on the verge of retirement.

It seems even though a fight with Jaron Ennis could fetch Terence Crawford a fair amount of cash, the former undisputed champion has tunnel vision for Canelo Alvarez. Meaning, Joe Rogan’s warning to Crawford doesn’t really matter if Crawford retires from the sport. What do you think Crawford should do?
