Not so long ago, the other Charlo, Jermell Charlo, confidently entered the squared ring against the fiery-haired Mexican. It wouldn’t be an understatement to say ‘Mell’ lost more than the fight; he lost his reputation as a world champion. Perhaps it’s revenge Jermall is looking for, as he expressed his desire to take on the Mexican superstar. However, a clash with Canelo isn’t his only goal! During a recent interview, Jermall explained he wants to be more active in the coming years.

Jermall Charlo wants to fight a YouTuber

While speaking to Fight Hub TV, Jermall Charlo claimed he wants to take on two or three fights by 2024. “I actually want to be a lot more active next year, maybe take on two to three fights by next year,” said Charlo. It’s worth mentioning that Charlo was on a two-year-long hiatus due to mental health concerns. So, this could be his way of making up for the lost time!

Charlo then proceeded to suggest that he might even take on the winner of the David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade fight. “I can land one of those big fights that you guys want to see, maybe the winner out of the main event,” said Charlo. He also added that he might fight Canelo Alvarez or a YouTuber. Charlo revealed that he just wants to be active. “Who knows, YouTubers is coming up whatever. I don’t care. I just want to fight,” said Charlo.

Charlo isn’t pleased with Jose’s way of promoting the fight

With the fight night drawing close, the trash talk between Charlo and Benavidez has escalated. Recently, Jose dragged in Charlo’s mental illness and his break from boxing into the trash talk, claiming it was an excuse. The incident gained massive attention from fans, bringing eyes to the clash ahead.

However, according to an article from Boxing Scene, Charlo isn’t happy about all the trash talk. Charlo asserted Benavidez is doing it to promote the fight. “I mean, I guess he is trying to sell the fight,” said Charlo. However, Charlo isn’t happy, hinting at a beatdown during their upcoming fight. “I’m taking it personal, and I’m taking it seriously. I’m not taking his words lightly,” said Charlo.

While Charlo has been inactive in the ring in the past, his plans for the future suggest multiple fights in a year. However, only time will tell if these claims hold ground in the coming days.
