YouTube star-turned-boxer Jake Paul seems to be running out of patience after his exhibition fight against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis fell apart. The Cleveland native is currently on a collision course with former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for their June 28, 2025, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. However, that’s not the fight he really wants.
A while back, Paul was targeting a bout against Canelo Alvarez, but the Mexican superstar ditched him to sign a four-fight deal with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh. Disdained, ‘The Problem Child’ moved on to Gervonta Davis instead, but even that fight went down the gutters after the shocking events that unfolded during the Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr. fight in March earlier this year. Defying all odds, Roach Jr. managed to produce a majority decision draw, which could have been a win had Tank’s now infamous knee incident been ruled a knockout. Regardless, this has forced Gervonta Davis to appear for a rematch with Roach Jr. on August 16, 2025, in Las Vegas. Despite that, Jake Paul has revealed that his exhibition with Davis will happen after Davis avenges his majority draw later this year. In the meantime, Paul claims he saw Davis’ downfall coming, pointing out the glaring flaws in the Baltimore native’s game that others overlooked.
While appearing in an interview with Ariel Helwani recently, Paul showed no mercy, stating, “I never really thought Tank was that good. It would just take the right fighter to pick him apart, to be honest.” Paul even detailed the kind of boxer it would take to beat Davis, which Paul believes he is.

“Someone who had high activity and wasn’t afraid of his power,” Paul added during the interview. “So, I always saw so many holes in his game. To me, it wasn’t that surprising that someone finally gave him some good work.” When asked about the limitations of the exhibition, Paul even detailed the rules for the fight.
Paul claimed he would weigh 195 pounds because it’s an exhibition, and it would have 10/three-minute rounds. He further added that the fight won’t have any restrictions, but “we couldn’t actually get it professionally sanctioned.” Only time will tell whether the exhibition ends up happening or not, but certain people aren’t happy about it.

Shakur Stevenson blasts Gervonta Davis for the Jake Paul fight
Shakur Stevenson isn’t holding back when it comes to Gervonta Davis and his exhibition bout with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Following the announcement of Davis’ August 16 rematch with Lamont Roach Jr., rumors reignited that Davis could face Paul in November. That didn’t sit well with Stevenson, who’s been calling for a showdown with Davis for years.

“Man, Tank [is] disrespectful to the sport if he chose [fighting Jake Paul] over fighting with me,” Stevenson told Fight Hub TV. “I’m the best fighter in the sport. I’ve been telling them that. He called cap on it. So if he called cap, and he wanna say I’m not who I say I am, come prove it, brotha.” Despite Stevenson’s objections, Davis may end up fighting Paul for a huge bag.

Having said that, Gervonta Davis needs to deliver a dominant performance against Lamont Roach Jr. to silence his critics, including Jake Paul. But the real question is: can he rise to the occasion and make a definitive statement this time?
