Devin Haney is one the most talked about fighters in boxing right now! However, who he will fight next is still up for debate. Meanwhile, in a recent update, Shakur Stevenson’s trainer, Willie Moses, has created a stir in the community. The renowned trainer suggested some fighter had slapped ‘The Dream’ and had taken his sneakers, something Haney has denied ever happened. But who was Moses talking about?

Haney previously made the headlines for being offered a lucrative deal from Turki Alalshikh to fight Gervonta Davis in Saudi Arabia. However, nothing has come out of it yet besides Davis asking for a couple of sports cars. Nevertheless, the shocking revelation from Moses today in an interview with Mill City Boxing may open some doors for Haney to a new fight.

Willie Moses claims Devin Haney might not stay at 140 for long

During the interview, Moses claimed, “Devin is not going to be 140 much longer…he might try to fight Hammer alright.” When the host probed Moses further about Haney pursuing a fight against Erickson Lubin, also known as ‘The Hammer,’ the trainer stated, “He [Haney] is talking all that s**t…Man, [Erickson] slap the shit out [of] you, and you [are not] going after that mother f**ker.”

In response to the shocking revelation, the host was left with a lack of words, later claiming, “You gotta get that. It’s like Charlo and Caleb Plant. They gotta get that.” It’s worth mentioning that Caleb Plant had slapped Jermall Charlo a while back for invading his personal space. Moses recollected that after slapping Haney, Erickson had taken his shoe. But Haney accused someone else of stealing his sneakers.

“The motherf**er lied, somebody stole my sneakers. They accused a kid from California Alex, [saying he] was stealing his sneakers, so I sent the kid home. When I found out what really happened, we had to bring the [kid] back to the team,” said Moses. However, not so long after the interview was shared on X, Haney responded to the claims, suggesting none of it is true. “His word fake is them chains.. knock it off.” Soon afterward, someone else showed up to express their thoughts on the matter.

Fighter suggests Moses should be talking about him

Hours after the clip started making the rounds on X, Shakur Stevenson found himself responding to the clip. Shakur hasn’t fought since his disappointing fight against Edwin De Los Santos, garnering him criticism from the community. However, when he discovered his trainer talking about his rival, Devin Haney, he had to respond to the interview.

Backing his trainer’s claim, Stevenson wrote, “True story, but pop pop should be talking bout me fighting dude instead of him fighting bigger guys.” On the same note, Stevenson’s last fight has made most boxers wary of his strategy, which involves staying away from his opponent to secure a guaranteed victory.

Calvin Frod, Gervonta Davis’ trainer, had expressed aversion to a fight against Shakur for the same reason after the fight had concluded in November last year.
