Three-division world champion Gervonta Davis recently emerged victorious in a battle for lightweight glory against lightweight phenom Ryan Garcia. And, in turn, put to rest the long-drawn argument about who would find his place on the pedestal of lightweight greatness. After the fight, Davis even stated that Garcia was his best opponent yet. Meanwhile, in a press conference, Garcia revealed that the knockdown during his fight against Luke Campbell hurt him more than ‘Tank’s’ sheer power.

During the post-fight presser, Garcia was asked to describe Davis’ power. In response, he said, “That’s my inexperience. I ran into one. It didn’t hurt as much as Luke Campbell. But, again, a knockdown is a knockdown, that counts.” Moreover, he further added, “Got right back up. And we went back to the same game. Him moving. And, me pressuring. It’s all good. I’ll learn from it.”

Notably, Garcia faced Campbell at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, on January 20, 2021. ‘KingRy’ went on to win the fight via a 7th-round TKO. In victory, he also secured the WBC interim lightweight title. Meanwhile, Campbell was all praise for his former opponent. In an interview with Boxing News Online, Campbell said, “Garcia will be a pound-for-pounder. He was a lot better than I thought he was. He has power in both hands; hard punches in both hands. His speed and his timing is like nothing I’ve been in with before.” Additionally, he also mentioned that Garcia was a better fighter than Vasyl Lomachenko.
