It’s worth noting that Shakur Stevenson is set to face Edwin De La Santos on November 16th at T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. Going into the fight, ‘Sugar’ Stevenson is the crowd favorite because of past performance. Seemingly, that isn’t enough for the undefeated champion as he revealed the reason behind his refraining from s*x. While appearing in a podcast with Bootleg Kev, ‘Sugar’ claimed there are benefits to this practice.

Shakur Stevenson can’t believe how people can abstain from sex for eight weeks

During the interview, the host enquired if Shakur was avoiding intercourse before his fight against De La Santos. In response, the Newark native confirmed he does while claiming he does it for four weeks before the fight. “For sure…I’m like a four-week type of person,” said Shakur. Meanwhile, Shakur expressed his disbelief that some people practice it for far longer, eight weeks, for example.

“I don’t know how…certain people…do eight weeks…they tough,” said Stevenson. When probed further about whether it makes a difference during his fights, Shakur nodded in agreement. He revealed if he does not abstain from s*x, it makes him lazy, and when he does abstain from it, he feels more active. “Yeah, I feel a difference…it makes me a little lazy…But when I like, hold it…I’m feeling good,” said Shakur.

Floyd Mayweather on abstinent from s*x

While Shakur Stevenson revealed his ritual of avoiding s*x before his fights, he is not alone in the belief. One of the greatest boxers in history, Floyd Mayweather, also practiced the ritual during his career. In an old clip, Snoop Dog interviews ‘Money’ Mayweather, questioning how many times he thinks about s*x.

In response, Mayweather reveals that he only thinks about it when he is training because testosterone levels are high during that time. Nevertheless, during a later interview with TMZ Sports, the reporter questioned if Mayweather would avoid sexual intercourse before one of his fights. The former undefeated boxer responded, “Absolutely.”
