Louis Greene reveals he gave up his day job to fight

Speaking to Helwani, an excited and unscathed Greene claimed, “I was confident. And I trained hard. I gave up work for this. I jumped from job to job, providing for my kids, being able to fight for a living.” However, beyond Greene himself, his brother exuded even greater confidence in his victory, as Greene revealed that his brother had placed a substantial bet on the outcome of the fight.

When asked about his experience in Saudi Arabia, the newly crowned winner highlighted his working-class background. Meanwhile, he revealed how his father saved him from heading into the wrong path in life. “Me and my dad have come from nothing. Absolutely nothing! [We are from] a working-class background, and I was a bad kid. I was on my way to prison. And my dad saved me and stuck by me,” said Greene.

Hearing this, Helwani quickly probed Greene about what stopped him from spiraling down the wrong path in life. That’s when he credited his success entirely to his children. “I had a son when I was sixteen, and I feel like I owe my life to him. [My] son is watching right now, and my other son and my daughter,” said Greene.

When asked about whether he had anything to say to his children, Greene stated, “I am [going to] ring you in about five minutes, and I love you with all my heart.” Moreover, tonight’s fight marks Greene’s first win since his unanimous decision loss to Sam Gilley in October last year. Meanwhile, his attitude indicates many fantastic performances are in the store from him.

With that said, as Greene added another win to his record, he thanked his children and family members for his tremendous success. However, only time can tell whether he will be able to maintain his spectacular form in his next fight. Are you excited about seeing Louis Greene in the ring again? What did you think about his spectacular victory?
