It turns out a fight between Ryan Garcia and Rolly Romero really isn’t happening! Not so long ago, ‘King Ry’ had turned to X (formerly Twitter), confidently announcing the confirmation of the potential fight. However, he soon had to accept the bitter reality of the fight falling apart. Rolly Romero, who could have been Garcia’s opponent, has now come out, blaming Garcia’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, for the downfall of the fight.

The saga of Garcia’s journey back to the ring has been marred with betrayal, trash talk, suspense, and drama, much like a Hollywood movie. However, it’s yet to see an ending, and Romero claims it’s all because of ‘Golden Boy.’ While appearing in an interview with ES News today, the WBA superlightweight champion didn’t hold back.

Rolly Romero claims Oscar De La Hoya disrespected him & his team

While speaking to Ellie Seckbach from ES News, Romero answered the interviewer’s question about the failed fight by claiming, “There were moments when it seemed like it was going to happen. But it was just like De La Hoya didn’t want that fight to happen.” After ‘Rolly’ had accused the former champion and now famed promoter of the downfall, Seckbach probed further.

Romero claimed, “It was really Oscar who didn’t want that fight to happen. He disrespected me; he disrespected my team…He just didn’t want that fight to happen.” However, the 15-1 boxer wasn’t done, as he proceeded to warn his rival about his team. “I think Oscar is planning on doing…putting Ryan in a really weird position right now, and it’s sad [because] he can’t be with people he trusts,” said Romero. While Romero warns Garcia, ‘King Ry’ himself has figured out the deception from his team.

Ryan Garcia on the cancelation of his fight

Despite Ryan’s confirmation about the fight against ‘Rolly,’ Romero had announced his clash with Isaac Cruz scheduled for 30 March, leaving Garcia in pure bewilderment. So, the Victorville native turned to X on January 25, describing his thoughts. “I was informed the deal was [finalized], and it would be announced in the coming days. Obviously, That was a lie,” wrote Garcia.

He further claimed that he had been trying to be patient for the past few weeks and had tried to be honest with his fans. Nevertheless, Garcia suggested he is still “looking forward to announcing my next fight.” However, he wouldn’t say anything until “it’s actually signed and delivered. I still look forward to putting on a big PPV for Dazn Boxing.”
