Are you ready for a weekend full of blockbuster boxing action? If the answer is yes, let me present to you the undisputed title fight between Gabriela Fundora and Marilyn Badillo. The undefeated duo will lock horns on April 19th at the Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, California, competing for Fundora’s four belts.

Fundora and Badillo are easy on the eyes, but you can expect bloodied faces when the pair gets down to business. However, the question is, who is more likely to win the fight? Can Fundora continue her rapid rise in the division after fully unifying the division by defeating Gabriela Celeste Alaniz? Or Badillo will swoop in to snatch all the belts and the glory?

Predicting Gabriela Fundora vs. Marilyn Badillo: Who has better stats and record?

Even though both women are undefeated, their experience, power, and opposition differ. 23-year-old Fundora is the youngest undisputed flyweight champion, showcasing her ability to handle top-tier opponents. She might not have the best knockout ratio out there at 46.67% (7 KOs), but she is consistent with her performance.

After debuting back in May 2021, Fundora has quickly amassed an impressive 15-0 record. She collected the IBF strap back in October 2023 by knocking out Arely Mucino and proceeded to defend it twice before claiming the other three against Gabriela Celeste Alaniz. Stylistically, the Florida native often uses her height and reach advantage effectively to stay on the outside and rack up points.

One key aspect of Fundora’s supremacy has to do with her southpaw stance, which gives her a slight advantage over her orthodox opponents. Fundora also seems to have some amateur experience, with a record of 14-2 and no knockouts. Meanwhile, 25-year-old Badillo is the IBF No.1 contender and holds the WBC Intercontinental flyweight title.

She defeated Tania Garcia in March 2024 to win the title and has defended it against Alma Meraz in July 2024. However, after debuting in October 2017, Badillo faced a setback when she suffered her first career draw against Linda Contreras Ibarra in November 2019. She currently holds an impressive record of 19-0-1, with a knockout ratio of 15.79% (3 KOs).

What’s your perspective on:

Can Marilyn Badillo defy the odds and dethrone Gabriela Fundora, or is Fundora's reign unbreakable?

Have an interesting take?

Considering all this, Fundora clearly has the upper hand in this matchup. She has not only fought more top-level boxers, but has also constantly dealt with title fights. Not to mention, Fundora also has more experience in the sport, including her time in the amateur circuit. While the fight is unlikely to see a knockout, if there’s one, it would likely come from Fundora.

Fundora vs. Badillo height, weight, reach comparison, and more

Fundora mostly maintains a height advantage over her opponents, and in the upcoming fight, the story is the same. Fundora measures 5′ 9″ (175cm) compared to Badillo, who is 5′ 3″ (160cm) tall. ‘Sweet Poison’ will likely use her height advantage to throw jabs while staying on the outside and away from Badillo’s reach.

Speaking of reach, details about Fundora’s reach are currently unavailable, but Badillo has a wingspan of 65″ (165cm). This means it’s unclear whether Fundora or Badillo will have a significant reach advantage in the upcoming fight. As for weight, Fundora has weighed in at around the 110 pounds consistently in all her fights.

It’s expected that she would come in somewhere between 109 to 111 for the fight. Meanwhile, Badillo has also maintained a consistent weight of 111½ pounds in her recent fights. However, only final weigh-ins for the fight will reveal their actual fight weight.

Unless one of them comes in extremely overweight, neither of them should have an advantage in this regard. Considering that, it appears Fundora has an edge over Badillo in terms of physical attributes as well. Badillo will have an uphill battle on Saturday night.

While an upset is unlikely to happen, there’s always that small possibility that Badillo will do the unthinkable. Despite that, Fundora should be able to win the fight on the judges’ scorecards comfortably.

That being said, the Gabriela Fundora vs. Marilyn Badillo fight should be an interesting matchup for boxing fans across the globe. The Golden Boy promoted event can be streamed live on DAZN at 9.00 pm ET / 6.00 pm PT/2.00 am BST. Let us know whether you agree with the prediction in the comments.
