Conor Benn’s return to the boxing ring is turning out to be as controversial and interesting as his brief departure. BBBofC suspended the Essex native after he tested positive twice ahead of his fight against Chris Eubank Jr. in 2022. Last month, the NADP lifted its provisional suspension. And finally, two weeks ago, after much deliberation, the UKAD and BBBofC decided not to appeal against this decision clearing the road for Benn to fight again in the UK.

Recently, Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn stated that the 28-year-old is looking at two fights on his comeback. Conor Benn wants to fight either Mario Barrios for his WBC welterweight title or he wants to face Chris Eubank Jr. in a legacy-defining match. Things moved forward when Ben Shalom told SkySports that Eubank and Benn have agreed to a 55-45 split and the talks are moving forward. Fans were quite excited after hearing the negotiations going swiftly. However, Benn dunked on the excitement while accusing Eubank of lying setting off a back-and-forth between the two rivals.

Conor Benn quoted the post made by SkySports on ‘X’, which claimed that the fighters have agreed to a 55-45 purse split. The news was exclusively revealed by the IBO middleweight champion’s promoter, Ben Shalom. The BOXXER head declared that even though “this isn’t even close to a 50-50 fight,” Eubank is ready to accept a low purse split, and “that is hugely generous from him.”

However, Conror Benn revealed that there has been no agreement regarding the deal. He further commented that even though Shalom claimed that negotiations were going forward smoothly, the reality was entirely different. He wrote, “Stop spreading false narratives @ChrisEubankJr you w***er. We both know that deal hasn’t been agreed to and we’re not even close yet on the numbers.”

Benn’s statement completely aligns with what his promoter Eddie Hearn revealed a few days ago. The Matchroom head honcho explained that the 23-0 boxer is confused between Eubank Jr. and Barrios. Hearn further claimed that “The fight fan in me wants to make Benn vs Barrios.” However, the British promoter is also aware of the money that a fight against Eubank Jr. will make.

However, after Conor Benn’s post slamming Eubank, the latter launched a scathing attack on Benn on social media, raising doubts among the fans.

The Sussex native replied to Conor Benn’s comment and wrote, “You don’t deserve 20 percent you little scumbag,” stating that the difference between them in the last 2 years has changed dramatically. When these two were slated to face each other in 2022, that fight would have been sensational. Both fighters were equally famous and were in their prime.

However, in the last two years, while Benn is trying to stay relevant with fights outside the UK, Eubank has captured the IBO middleweight title and has raised his stocks well. He has won two out of his last three fights and fought on the undercard of the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol card as well, where he secured the title with a 7th-round KO victory.

In the same post, the 35-year-old warned Conor Benn. He wrote, “So shut the fu** up & be grateful for what I allow you to have,” claiming that he has the upper hand in negotiations, unlike the last time.

Both Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn want to have this fight. However, it is evident by the latest exchange that it will be a headache for Eddie Hearn and Ben Shalom to find a middle ground, as none of the fighters is ready to back down.
