Ryan Garcia may have defeated Devin Haney, but he couldn’t defeat Haney’s fighting spirit! After suffering a devastating loss last Saturday night in New York, ‘The Dream’ showed true sportsmanship by facing the loss head on. However, there was something else Haney needed to address, and it was the rumors floating around on the internet that he had broken his jaw during the fight.

After shocking the world through his performance, Ryan Garcia hopped on X to gloat over his unforeseen win. Among his myriad of tweets, which have become Garcia’s signature style, the Victorville native wrote, “Damn Devin has a broken Jaw Allegedly. The name of the game, I suppose. What’s next?”

Soon, the whole twitter verse seemed to have picked up the statement, as they shared it across the platform, starting the rumor. Meanwhile, Haney’s swollen chin, a result of repeated blows from Garcia, after the fight further fueled the rumors. However, Haney wasn’t going to have any of it!

So, the former undisputed lightweight champion hopped on X as well, addressing the broken jaw rumor. Haney wrote, “I have [not] broken anything btw way like [I] said [I am] ok.” Even in his prior tweet, Haney had claimed, “…I am 100% ok & would love to do it again while we both make weight.”

In hindsight, it’s not difficult to imagine why people were quick to believe the statement from Garcia. The Victorville native did a number on Haney, dropping him thrice. Not counting the once, the referee chose not to rule as a knockdown. Regardless of the rumors, though, Garcia didn’t miss this opportunity to show his critics that he pulled a fast one on them. Here’s what Garcia said after the fight.

Ryan Garcia claims to have “walked through the fire” to defeat Devin Haney

After duping the entire world, including Haney, into thinking he wasn’t serious about the fight, Ryan Garcia saw the post-fight press conference as the best place to call out all of his haters. Despite missing weight and chugging a pint of beer during the weigh-ins, Garcia did what nobody expected to see on Saturday night.

So, Garcia said, “I walked through the fire, and still held it down. And still beat Devin Haney—and still drank every day—and still beat him. I did everything. What the f**k? False reality, right? Drank every single night, went out on the first Monday and Tuesday and drank… [I am not necessarily proud of it] but I’m just saying.”

With that said, Devin Haney will not be entertaining falsehoods about his fight against Ryan Garcia. A fight he put his heart and soul into, even though it didn’t prove to be enough by the end of the night. Do you think Garcia is playing his mind games again? Do you think it’s Garcia’s tactic to break Haney before their rematch?
