Former WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney currently appears to be without a clear path to his next fight. Speculation is rife about whether he will secure a bout following his showdown with former interim WBC lightweight champion Ryan Garcia. Meanwhile, popular YouTuber Show Bizz The Adult has weighed in, offering Haney a potential roadmap back to the ring, citing Errol Spence Jr. as a prime example.

Just to give you a brief recap of what has happened—Haney was demolished in his fight against Garcia last April, which saw the former undisputed lightweight champion get dropped three times en route to a majority decision loss. However, Garcia tested positive for Ostarine in multiple tests by VADA, leading to the results getting turned into a no-contest.

While Garcia was fined his entire purse and handed a year-long suspension from the sport, it wasn’t enough for Haney. ‘The Dream’ filed a lawsuit against Garcia, alleging breach of contract, battery, and fraud. The pair is expected to settle the issue in court, but this has led to doubts about Haney’s future in boxing.

Show Bizz The Adult feels Haney’s next step should be to move up to 147 pounds (welterweight) and knockout an opponent to prove he is still a great boxer. “Devin Haney got to go to 147 now because if he fights at 140, people gonna call him a weight bully,” the YouTuber said, referencing Haney’s tendency to come in massively overweight on fight night.

Interestingly, during the Garcia fight, ‘King Ry’ missed weight by 3.2 pounds and matched Haney’s weight on fight night. “So he has to fight at 147 and he has to knock somebody out and people say, ‘Yo, Devin Haney is back,'” Show Bizz said. He also roped in Errol Spence Jr., highlighting how ‘The Truth’ took his loss to Terence Crawford on the chin.

“Errol Spence after getting his a** whipped by Terrence ‘Bud’ Crawford—he could have done the Deontay ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Wilder and speculated or said that Crawford cheated by using Snack,” Show Bizz added. But he didn’t because he knew that one paycheck wasn’t worth more than his brand.”

He further highlighted that despite Spence’s loss, people love Errol Spence,” noting, Haney’slawsuit, this bag, is it worth… your brand?” Meanwhile, Haney seems to have received a challenge from a super lightweight champion.

Richardson Hitchins calls out Devin Haney for a fight

Richardson Hitchins is coming off a spectacular win over Liam Paro where he acquired the IBF super lightweight title. Now, it appears he has shifted his sights on bigger fights, and Devin Haney seems to be his prime target. While appearing in an interview with Fight Hype TV, Hitchins showed empathy for Haney because of his rough 2024.

“I’m not going to kick the Black man while he’s down,” Hitchins said. “He’s going through a lot of mental, f**ked up s**t right now.” However, he seemed open to throwing it down with the former WBC champion. “I don’t give a f**k about no Devin Haney! I am the champ, Devin Haney is not the champ [anymore]! If he wants a chance at the title, tell him to come talk to me,” he said later in the video.

That said, what Devin Haney does next is up to him and his team. Whether he comes back with a fight against someone like Hitchins or faces Ryan Garcia in a rematch is yet to be seen. Regardless, who would you like to see him fight?
