English heavyweight Derek Chisora is set to face Sweden’s Otto Wallin on February 8th in Manchester, England. Touted as his last dance in the UK, the bout marks a significant chapter in Chisora’s career as he works towards achieving a milestone of 50 professional fights before retirement. However, the 40-year-old has recently become the subject of online mockery, drawing attention for reasons beyond his upcoming clash.

The update comes days after the previously reported fight against Jarrell Miller went to the gutters because of what seems to be a massive dispute between Miller and his promoter Dmitry Salita. Regardless, Chisora’s unfortunate online grilling began after the Zimbabwe native was seen in a clip on Instagram shared by his promoter Queensberry Promotions.

Here’s the tea! Earlier today, Queensberry Promotions posted a lighthearted clip on Instagram featuring Derek Chisora taking a swing at the punch machine—a device designed to measure punching power. In true Chisora fashion, he jokingly threw a half-hearted punch, scoring a modest 143 points.

The fun didn’t stop there. Chisora then had to record his score on a leaderboard featuring the names and scores of various English fighters. Unsurprisingly, his playful attempt didn’t land him anywhere near the top. Instead, he found himself dead last, hilariously ranked below talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, who had a much more respectable score of 794.

Interestingly, after his fight against Wallin at the Co-op Live Arena, Chisora has already expressed the desire to end his boxing career with a cross-over boxing match against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. The former UFC star, of course, entered the ring against Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, losing both fights. 

Regardless, when fans came across Queensberry’s clip of Chisora on the punch machine, ‘funny’ wasn’t exactly how most described their reactions. Instead, the comments section quickly turned into a hub of criticism and mockery.

Fan mocks Chisora for ranking in first spot 

Some may have expected the comments on the post to be light-hearted including Chisora. But things quickly went downhill. One user mocked Chisora by highlighting yet another loss ‘on points’ for the 40-year-old. “Derek getting beat on points yet again,” the user commented. Notably, Chisora’s 4 out of 13 losses came from knockouts and the rest was on points.

Another user speculated Derek Chisora was embarrassed about losing to everyone else, so he didn’t try. “This screams insecurity, too embarrassed about getting beat by everyone so made a joke of it instead,” the user commented. Chisora is on his way out of the sport, and he is coming off of a massive win over fellow countryman Joe Joyce, what’s he got to be embarrassed about?

Someone else took a sly dig at Chisora for ranking first on the leaderboard but from the bottom. “Now he is at least the first from the bottom,” wrote the user. Despite a 17-year career in boxing, Chisora has never secured a major heavyweight title, making him an easy target for such criticism.

The next user felt Chisora was insecure about losing the competition. “When you’re insecure about not being first so you make it into a joke instead,” the user wrote. While Chisora may not be celebrated as a knockout artist, his 65.71% knockout ratio suggests he’s far from lacking power. 

Even this user had the same idea. “Scared he doesn’t get top score so he tries to be clever,” commented the user. However, if Chisora were truly afraid of losing, his willingness to step into the ring after 13 professional losses would tell a different story. 

That said, Derek Chisora has found himself at the center of some unwarranted mockery from fans. Whether he truly deserves it is up for debate, as the comments suggest a mix of humor and critique.
