Former interim WBC lightweight champion Ryan Garcia is no stranger to alcohol. Back in April, the 27-year-old chugged a bottle of beer after weighing in 3.2 pounds heavier before his fight against former WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney. By his own admission, Garcia said he was drinking and partying all the time before the fight.

Not to forget, the entire drama surrounding Garcia’s tweets before the fight. It’s worth mentioning that Henry Garcia once told Fight Hub TV that his son had a severe drinking problem. “What I am seeing is that I would love for him to get some type of therapy when it comes to his drinking,” Henry said.

“I’m being real,” he added. “He says he can control it. I hope he can. But if he doesn’t, that’s what I am talking about. Get that therapy so he can stop.” Although it’s unclear whether Garcia has overcome the habit, having experienced firsthand the devastating effects of alcoholism on individuals and their loved ones, Lisa Garcia took to social media today to raise awareness and help others avoid the life-threatening consequences that often accompany alcohol addiction.

On her Instagram story today, Lisa M Garcia shared a clip from Corey Warren, who claims to be an alcoholic. In the video, clearly aimed at helping people break free from the habit, Warren speaks about how alcohol caused utter destruction in his life. “This beer is a death sentence for me,” Warren said, opening the video.

Warren points out how alcohol affected his whole family—his mother worried whether he was dead or alive, his father trying to deal with the tension he caused his mother. He even delves into how he wasn’t present for his wife, daughter, and son. In the end, to motivate people further, the entire Warren family dumped several bottles of beer into the sink.

Warren offered a helping hand to overcome the difficult endeavor, stating, “If you wanna quit drinking, hit me up.” Meanwhile, adding her own take on the matter, Lisa captioned the post in her story, writing, “Alcohol affects the whole family.” However, this is not the first time Lisa Garcia has tried to help spread the message about alcoholism.

The mother of Ryan Garcia highlights alcohol is poison to the body

Back in August, Lisa Garcia publicly addressed the dangers of alcohol abuse, amid a turbulent year for her son. Akin to her actions today, Lisa turned to Instagram to share a powerful message, amplifying a sermon by Eddie Williams, a former NFL athlete and pastor, about the harm alcohol can cause.

“Some of you respectfully, need to stop drinking altogether,” Williams urged. “You have abused your freedom, and it’s not funny anymore, you are not 22, You are not 21. It is not funny anymore, and it is killing you.” Adding to the message from Williams, Lisa wrote, “Alcohol is poison to the body, mind, and spirit when done abusively.”

That said, it appears Lisa Garcia is continuing her battle against alcoholism. While alcohol is bad for everyone, it can prove disastrous for a boxer’s career. What do you think about Lisa’s take on alcoholism?
