Earlier today, Oleksandr Usyk became a spoilsport in Chris Eubank Jr.‘s biggest achievement as he defeated Conor Benn via unanimous decision to end this generational rivalry their fathers started. However, it seems like the real game has just begun. While The Next Gen controlled the fight from the start, Benn and Eddie Hearn left the stadium frustrated, claiming they had won.
Their allegations were supported when the unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk passed his verdict. He declared The Destroyer as the winner, disagreeing with the judges’ verdicts. Expectedly, the verdict has gone viral as it reached Benn, who was over the moon to find support from the Ukrainian.

Despite not watching the whole fight, the 23-0 boxer, Oleksandr Usyk, believes that Conor Benn did enough to take home the bout. “I didn’t watch the entire fight and count. But I had him(Benn) winning the first six or seven rounds,” he stated. The start of the Eubank-Benn fight was extremely fast-paced, with both punchers trading blows. The Destroyer was even able to land a heavy shot that left Eubank Jr. wobbly. However, the judges’ scorecards failed to reflect that.

Disappointment runs deep in Conor Benn’s camp, with Eddie Hearn openly voicing his frustration over the decision. They have to go back to the drawing board. Conor Benn’s father, the iconic Nigel Benn, is confident in his son; his confidence remains unshaken.

A heartfelt message to Conor Benn
During the post-fight interview, Nigel Benn tipped his hat to Chris Eubank Jr. for the inspired performance, claiming that his son was not at his best. “I don’t think Conor performed to the best of his ability, was winging a lot of shots,” he stated.
However, rather than being disgruntled by the loss, the legend believes that Conor Benn will bounce back. “He’ll come back from this,” he declared with surety. Not only that, he doubled down, claiming that losing was a good result for Benn. “Now he can go back to the drawing board and know where he went wrong, take his time in here, come back, ’cause I know he’s got a heart to be a winner,” he added.
Well, there is no doubt regarding Conor Benn’s skills. He is one of the most talented fighters in the world currently. And honestly, he has come back from bigger trials. Furthermore, with the rematch in talks, he will be motivated to make the most of his second chance.
