There’s a fine line between pride and ego, and if anyone knows how to walk it like a champ, it’s Claressa Shields. Just two days after Amanda Serrano extended a front-row invitation to her upcoming trilogy fight in New York, things have taken a turn between the two. Now, who doesn’t know about the long-standing feud between Claressa Shields and Jake Paul? Their rivalry’s been bubbling for years, and recently, it’s started to boil over again. One more reason is the addition of Alycia Baumgardner (a former friend-turned rival) to their MVP roster—add to that the MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian’s statement about the possibility of TheBomb vs. T-Rex fight.

Anyway, leaving Alycia Baumgardner aside and Bidarian’s statements aside, Claressa Shields made it loud and clear—she doesn’t have beef with Amanda Serrano. But when it comes to Jake Paul? That’s still a whole different story. She hasn’t forgotten how he tried to strip her of her well-earned “GWOAT” crown and hand it over to Serrano. So when Serrano extended the VIP invite, fans were sure Claressa Shields would laugh it off, toss some shots on X, and call it a day. But nope. As they say, the plot thickens.

Earlier today, Claressa Shields jumped on X and made it very clear—she’s not backing down from anybody. She posted on X: “I don’t give a fk who y’all invite to the fight! POUND 4 POUND #1 GWOAT A BE THERE !!!!! On my mama!!!!! See y’all then!!!!”

Despite revealing that she will be present at the Netflix event, the Flint native isn’t the type to sit back quietly while people try to knock her down. Only yesterday, when the statement from Bidarian regarding the Shields-Baumgardner potential fight went viral, Claressa Shields went straight for the MVP co-founder. “Weak a– Pinocchio looking mf talking bout my weight. Like I’m not undisputed heavyweight champ at 175, and most fighters’ weights fluctuate in and out of camp,” Shields added. She didn’t stop there either. The two-time Olympic Gold medalist made it loud and clear that she doesn’t need an MVP promotion to get the bag. “To say I need @MostVpromotions to make my millions like @SalitaProm ain’t been putting on is CRAZY!” she stated.

Let’s not forget—Shields has been with Salita Promotions since 2017, and she proudly claimed she was the first woman in boxing to hit the million-dollar mark back in 2022. Now, whether Katie Taylor or Amanda Serrano actually did it first is still up for debate, but either way, the point stands: Claressa Shields knows her worth.

While she was going off, another familiar name jumped into the mix—Cris Cyborg. And in true internet beef fashion, she added fuel to the fire, replying to MVP’s post with: “😂 @Claressashields ate herself out of fights fans care about.” The tension between Shields and Cyborg has been brewing for a while, and they’ve even tossed around the idea of fighting—but so far, it’s all been limited to the virtual world.

At first, it looked like Amanda Serrano was extending an olive branch—offering Claressa Shields a front-row seat to the massive all-women’s card featuring her trilogy fight with Katie Taylor. But after that has happened in the past couple of days? It appears Serrano might pull the plug on that invite. Why?

What’s your perspective on:

Does Claressa Shields' boldness make her a boxing icon, or is it hurting her reputation?

Claressa Shields goes by her own rules

Just a few days ago, things were all smiles—at least on the surface. When Claressa Shields was trading online jabs with MVP, Amanda Serrano jumped in with what seemed like a peace offering. She tweeted: “For sure we’d Love to have the You in attendance Champ! This is all about the women & no way can we be about it without having The GWOAT in attendance. My team will cordially make arrangements #MVP 🙏❤️.”

Classy, right? And Claressa Shields even responded with grace, saying: “Such a sweet Champion 😊 y’all have Mark email. See you guys then.” But unfortunately, it didn’t last long. After Claressa Shields went off on MVP’s Nakisa Bidarian for his not-so-subtle jab about her weight in regards to the Baumgardner fight, Amanda Serrano stepped in again—this time to defend her team. She tweeted: “Sincerely @MostVpromotions & @alyciambaum aren’t looking to disrespect anyone.” She added that MVP was just trying to elevate the sport and wants to be involved in the biggest fights, not tear anyone down. But Shields wasn’t buying it. Not even a little.

She clapped back hard. “You, MVP & Alycia love throwing rocks & hiding y’all hands,” she replied on X. Then she really let it rip.Your stupid a– promoter Nakisa stay tweeting saying false stuff 24/7 like I won’t expose the truth,” And just to be clear where she stands, Claressa Shields added: “Tried to give you & promote you off my hardwork & name!” No sugarcoating there.

At this point, Claressa Shields seems to be going head-to-head with anyone who backs MVP, including Serrano herself. And while she hasn’t addressed Cyborg’s recent comments (yet), knowing how fast Claressa’s trigger finger is on social media, it’s probably just a matter of time. So now the question is: Even though Claressa Shields made it clear that she will be there at Madison Square Garden in New York on July 11, will Amanda Serrano still hold her in high regard?
