Gervonta Davis has been dealt yet another blow, just as he was plotting a return to the squared circle. And Ryan Garcia has a strong opinion about it. TMZ Sports has released eight clips from the Miami strip club Tootsie’s, which showed the alleged assault of Davis’ ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, by him in the early morning of October 27, 2025. The surveillance footage from the club was presented as evidence during a recent court hearing for a civil lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend, where the judge determined that Rossel can seek $5 million in punitive damages against the Baltimore native.
After this, the clips, which became part of the public record, were shared by TMZ. Since then, Davis’ legal team has released a statement.

“We were disappointed with the court’s ruling today,” the statement read. “As we do not believe the video tells the entire story.”
When this statement found its way onto social media, Ryan Garcia, who lost his April 2023 bout to Gervonta Davis, quickly condemned Tank for his actions as seen in the clip.
“Gervonta [is] an angry little f**ker, no?” Ryan Garcia wrote on X.
When one fan tried to defend Davis’ actions, highlighting Garcia’s own arrest on June 8, 2024, at a Beverly Hills hotel in California, the Victorville native shamed the fan for defending Davis’ actions.
“Bro [is] trying to justify hurting a girl?” Garcia wrote back. “Hit a girl? Or make a room messy 🤣🤣”

The Baltimore native faced a lawsuit in October after his ex-partner, Courtney Rossel, accused him of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress after an altercation at a Miami strip club. Initially, Davis’ exhibition against Jake Paul fell apart, and he was later arrested on January 29, 2026, in Miami’s Design District.
He was released from prison shortly after on $8,500 bond, but the court case is still ongoing. This brings us to last Tuesday, when Rossel’s attorney played the eight clips in a Florida court, which showed the 31-year-old confronting Rossel in the back hallway of the strip club in Miami before 4 am in October last year. In the clips, Davis appeared to grab the victim by her neck or hair before forcing her through the hallway.
And later down several sets of stairs, and through the empty club, eventually exiting the establishment, leading to the parking lot. Later, the video shows Rossel running back into the club. This, of course, led to Rossel’s police complaint and lawsuit, which resulted in Davis’ arrest.
Despite the glaring evidence, Gervonta Davis’ attorneys have defended him, claiming he didn’t hurt Rossel and that the entire incident was an elaborate ploy to extort money from him. It’s worth noting that ‘Tank’ filed a $20 million counterclaim this week, alleging he lost a massive payday in the fight against Jake Paul when it was canceled due to the lawsuit. He was also stripped of his WBA lightweight title after his arrest.
The false imprisonment charge was dropped against Davis, as TMZ reports it was redundant due to the kidnapping charges still in the picture. The media outlet has also obtained a statement from Rossel’s attorney, which suggests the future might be darker for Davis.
Gervonta Davis’ actions were branded as outrageous by the victim’s attorney
In a statement issued to TMZ Sports, Rossel’s attorney shared an update from Tuesday’s civil trial.
“What Mr. Davis did to Courtney was outrageous,” the statement read. “And the judge agreed. This is not the first, second, or third time that Mr. Davis has acted in this manner.
“His defense team showed their desperation by attempting to attack Courtney, when the videos clearly showed [that] what Courtney said was truthful and consistent with her affidavit, the police arrest, and the incident report by her employer.”
Last year, the 31-year-old was charged with striking an ex-girlfriend on the back of the head. And then he also slapped her during an alleged dispute on Father’s Day. However, the case was dropped after the victim refused to prosecute. It’s also worth noting that civil cases don’t result in prison time.
Gervonta Davis was rumored to have been plotting a comeback against rival Isaac Cruz in 2026. While the latest update doesn’t necessarily cancel those talks, it’s definitely going to have an impact on them.
