The former champion recently shared a story on social media calling for ‘Tank’ Davis’ release. The story which was originally posted by Cordell Carter read, “@AdrienBroner they need to release our boy ASAP! @Gervontaa we got you!” Davis found himself in legal trouble following a hit-and-run incident in November 2020. After pleading guilty to four traffic offenses, he was sentenced to 90 days of home detention, three years of probation, and 200 hours of community service, avoiding jail time.

However, Davis reportedly violated the terms of his home detention by attempting to serve it at a luxurious hotel instead of the agreed-upon location. As a result, he was incarcerated for his violation. Broner also found himself in the midst of controversy after he appeared drunk at a show leading to a disjointed interview.

During an appearance on The Danza Project, it was apparent that Broner may have been under the influence of alcohol. While trying to express his gratitude towards Al Haymon, Broner’s speech was slurred. The incident also raised concerns among fellow boxers about his well-being and to provide support to others, such as Davis.

“That ain’t about nothing about what you talking about… still got him…. I call him every day, ah, every day. I talk to Al Haymon every day!… Yeah, he’s a billion-dollar n***a… I talk to that n***a every day. Look, I am drunk, I am sorry,” he said.

As Broner navigates his own personal challenges, it remains to be seen how this controversy will impact his ability to support Davis.
