Despite never actually stepping inside a ring, Carl Weathers and Sylvester Stallone became the most popular names in the boxing world after their blockbuster ‘Rocky’ hit theaters in November 1976. And when a clip of the two choreographing a scene from the movie came to light yesterday, it sent fans back to the 1970s.

The famous Apollo Creed actor passed away in his sleep last week at the age of 76, as revealed by his family members in a statement. With a background in the NFL, Carl Wheathers appeared in other Hollywood hits, including ‘Predator,’ ‘Star Wars,’ and many more. However, ‘Rocky’ holds a special place in people’s hearts, especially because of the effort Weathers and Stallone put into making the movie. The same was evident in the clip shared on social media.

Turning to X (formerly Twitter), a user going by the allies Historic Vids on the platform shared the clip, captioning it, “Carl Weathers and Sylvester Stallone choreograph for Rocky, 1976.” The clip showed Weathers and Stallone practicing for the final fight in the 1976 movie when Creed fought Balboa for the first time. 

Carl Weathers even described his approach to playing the character, claiming, “I began thinking more like a fighter, walk like a fighter and be a fighter.” Interestingly, the inspiring sports epic was the movie that launched both Stallone and Weathers into stardom. So, after fans discovered this clip from the 1970s, they had to express their thoughts.

Weathers and Sylvester Stallone did not choreograph for ‘Rocky’

Since the clip saw the light of day, it has collected millions of views and a plethora of comments from boxing fans everywhere! While some made revelations of their own, others fondly remembered the two legends of the big screen. One user clarified that Carl Weathers and Sylvester Stallone weren’t the ones who choreographed the movie. Instead, it was boxing choreographer Garrett Warren! It’s worth mentioning that Stallone and Weathers worked closely with Warren to make the boxing sequences memorable. 

Another user highlighted how rare it is that people get to see behind-the-scenes footage of a movie that came out decades ago. The user even appreciated the unadulterated version of the clip where the movie magic covering all the kinks was absent.

Someone else shared a GIF from one of the movies and captioned it, “RIP Carl Weathers.” After he passed, the entire entertainment world came together to bid farewell to the late legend. 

The next user failed to fathom that the movie was from more than four decades ago. Interestingly, fans of the genre still go back and watch the movie multiple times. It has taken its place as one of the classics and a must-watch in the genre. 

One user went into detail, describing the piece of art that was the movie, claiming that the movie was a testament to the actors’ dedication and artistry.
