The Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight may be in the past, but it’s still making waves. In a surprising update, the bout has reportedly broken an unexpected record, catching everyone off guard. This milestone prompted DoorDash co-founder Andy Fang to take to X to congratulate the YouTube star-turned-boxing sensation. And guess what? Paul responded.

However, this leaves us with the question: What record did the fight actually break? And why is the co-founder of DoorDash congratulating Paul and Tyson? Well, the Netflix exclusive fight has proved to be the biggest combat sports spectacle of 2024, with Paul and his promotion presenting an absolute master class in marketing.

Everyone and their grandmas were talking about the fight, which was reflected in the numbers as well. According to Netflix, 60 million households tuned in to watch the Paul vs. Tyson fight on Friday night, and the fight has reportedly earned a whopping $18 million in gate revenue. It broke the previous highest gate—Canelo Alvarez’s record of $9 million.

Regardless, the Paul-Tyson fight has also broken a certain NFL record as well, especially for the Super Bowl. After ‘The Problem Child’ clinched a unanimous decision victory over legendary Mike Tyson at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, DoorDash CEO hopped on X to reveal, “DoorDash saw a higher food delivery volume surge during #PaulTyson fight than the Super Bowl 😳.”

He then added, “Congrats @jakepaul @MikeTyson on a well-promoted fight.” After learning about breaking this unexpected record, Jake Paul hopped on Instagram, sharing his reaction to the surprising milestone. “Bigger than… hahaha,” Paul wrote. Meanwhile, after dispatching ‘Iron’ Mike, Paul seems to be on the lookout for another banger.

After Mike Tyson, Jake Paul sets sights on Conor McGregor

Fresh off his unanimous decision win over 58-year-old Mike Tyson, Jake Paul is setting his sights on a new target: former UFC champion Conor McGregor. However, there’s a twist in the story this time around—he doesn’t want to box the Irish fighter. Instead, Paul wants a date with McGregor in the octagon.

“Dear Conor,” Paul wrote on X hours after defeating the living boxing legend. “I know you told my team you would fight me at 170lbs. That’s never happening. But let’s run it in MMA. No weight class. Just like how it used to be done. But you won’t.” However, McGregor, who is much younger than Tyson at 36, had other ideas.

The UFC fame fired back at ‘The Problem Child’ with a meme that fans online will relate to quite well. Posting a picture of Senator Mitch McConnell, 82, ‘The Notorious’ wrote, “Nakisa already rang me, lad, it’s this guy next for you. Good luck pal.”

That said, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson seem to be breaking a whole lot of records with their fight on Friday night, even though their actual fight left much to be desired. Meanwhile, Paul’s attempt to lure Conor McGregor for another money shower seems to have fallen face first. By the way, did you order food through DoorDash on Friday night?
