When Floyd Mayweather turned down some of the biggest deals offered to him
Floyd Mayweather is nicknamed ‘Money’ for a reason. But, he has taken some risky decisions over the years which make him worth $450 million today. Bob Arum revealed in an interview that Mayweather was offered an enormous $65 million from some legitimate people from Singapore to fight Manny Pacquiao. Moreover, even Pacquiao’s camp approached Mayweather for a fight that would have resulted in a $100 million payday for him. But the American boxer declined the offer to fight Pacquiao both times.
When Mayweather was just 2 fights away from his 50-0 mark, he was thinking about retiring. And he told FightHype.com, “People been throwing crazy numbers at me to stay in the sport. Nine figures up front. Numbers have came at me. … But right now, I’m OK.”
Furthermore, Top Rank boss, Bob Arum, had offered Mayweather to fight Antonio Margarito for $8 million, and the boxer rejected this deal as well. HBO offered the Pretty Boy a deal to extend his contract for 6 fights at a fair price of $12.5 million. But he had something else in mind and rejected this deal, too.
