Legendary bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman, known worldwide as the ‘King,’ has dominated the stage by winning eight consecutive Mr. Olympia titles. However, his journey from being a footballer to the king of bodybuilding was not easy. Even after retiring, his life has been tough. Throughout his career, Coleman underwent 13 surgeries, but it was after his second hip transplant that his condition worsened. After this, Coleman was confined to a wheel chair. However, after seeking major medical help, he relied on stem cell surgery.

Coleman has personally benefitted from this treatment and has been an avid advocate for it since then. According to his recent Instagram post, he shared insights into his treatment journey, emphasizing how it has been a life-saver for him. However, Coleman was not alone in turning to this modern science. Several other athletes have also depended on this treatment.

A simple therapy became the reason behind the King’s survival

Before delving into Coleman’s journey, let’s get to know what stem cell treatment is and how it has been beneficial to athletes. According to Mayo Clinic, this medical treatment uses special cells in bodies called stem cells to help with healing. These stems have the ability to turn into different types of cells, and they can be used to repair and replace damaged or injured parts of the body. Bodybuilders often injure their selves due to their intense workout routines, and sometimes the severity of the injury cannot be measured.

The 59-year-old Ronnie Coleman posted a snippet of his treatments on his Instagram account, and mentioned in the caption, “From the depths of pain to the peak of recovery, Ronnie Coleman shows us what true resilience looks like. Stem cell therapy at Regenamex has opened a new chapter in his life – one without the shadow of pain. 🌟 #StrengthReborn.”

In one of his old YouTube appearances, he admitted that this treatment has worked really well for him. During that period, he was taking those treatments in Mexico and that relieved him from the immense pain he was going through.

Coleman underwent stem cell therapy every three to four months

Just like Coleman, many other big names rely on this therapy

The reigning champion in the Mr. Olympia Classic Physique category, Chris Bumstead, strongly believed in this new-era treatment for the injury. Last year, he talked about having done stem cell treatment after he tore his biceps. Other than Coleman, Big Ramy, Hafthor Bjornsson, Dexter Jackson, and many others in strength sports have embraced stem cell therapy.

In an old video, Bumstead had said, “Taking peptides PPC157, TB500 blasting in there, great stuff for healing injuries. Also, just did some stem cell injections. But stem cells, and peptides, try to heal the process.”

According to these iconic athletes, stem cell therapy is a blessing for bodybuilders and for those who train heavily. What do you think of this method and the bodybuilders’ extreme approach towards training? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
