Now, the co-writer, Gale Anne Hurd, reveals why the climax scene of The Terminator has been deleted. In an X post, Hurd explained how a crucial scene was deleted to keep the financier John Daly happy.

Even after 39 years of The Terminator’s release, fans often discuss crucial aspects of the film. In a recent X post, a fan complained about how he is upset with the elimination of the arm and chip climax. “My only gripe with terminator was a deleted scene when the arm and chip was found…, ” he wrote.

Replying to the tweet, the co-author Hurd revealed the real reason for deleting the scene. John Daly, the film financier, signed an output deal with Orion Pictures. But Daly was not confident of the film’s success.

So, he came up with a plan to shoot the climax scene with the financier friends, so that they could be paid as actors under the Taft-Hartley act, as per CINEMA BLEND. “They insisted we use financier friends not actors in this scene, which ruined it for us,” Hurd wrote. So, the scene was deleted, but James Cameron came up with a superior script for the second installment of the film. However, Arnie had his doubts.

“I was killing 68 people in the first one. The second one, I have to kill 150. We go up with the count and cut their throats and kill them and run them over with the car,” Arnie complained to James Cameron. But the director managed to convince the action hero.
