One of the top contenders at this year’s Mr. Olympia found himself in a rough spot a couple of days before the Super Bowl of Bodybuilding. Just two days before the Olympia, Nick Walker, with tears in his eyes, announced that he wouldn’t compete at the 2023 Mr. Olympia due to a last-minute injury. The bodybuilder had torn his hamstring.

Despite trying his best to compete, the injury got worse, and Walker decided to skip the Olympia. However, despite not being able to train for a while and only training at a limited capacity as his leg heals, Walker has maintained a competition-ready physique. The 29-year-old explained his secret earlier.

Nick Walker on staying consistent

“I keep getting asked, ‘You’re still lean post-show!'” wrote the bodybuilding star. Walker looked ripped and nearly ready to step on a bodybuilding stage despite the injury and while in the off-season. The bodybuilder asked those who seemed shocked that he had maintained his shredded physique. “Was I supposed to get fat?” asked the 29-year-old.

Bodybuilders who compete in the open division often put on a lot of weight during the off-season. However, Nick Walker is among the exceptions. “It’s called not eating everything at one time, sticking to a plan, being consistent, always prepared,” wrote the 2021 Arnold Classic winner.

“I love my cheat meals but in moderation,” explained the IFBB Pro. Walker also said he does cardio regularly and is “training 4 days a week.” Walker’s goal for now remains to maximize recovery. While he couldn’t participate in the Olympia, the bodybuilder astonished everyone with a recent guest posing.

Despite being unable to compete at the biggest bodybuilding event of the year, Nick Walker didn’t get demoralized. Shortly after the injury, the bodybuilder started his recovery process and went back to the gym to train his upper body. In early December, The Mutant appeared on the NPC Highroller Royal stage less than a month after the Olympia.

The bodybuilder broke the online bodybuilding community with his insane conditioning. While the effects of the injury were apparent, everyone commended Walker for his dedication. The 2022 Olympia People’s Champion made his point. There was little doubt that this year’s competition would’ve been even more exhilarating with him on the Olympia stage.

In his latest post, Nick Walker showed he was in no mood to slow down. While the 2023 Olympia bronze medalist won’t appear at the Arnold Classic in March 2024, he isn’t letting his foot off the pedal.
