These surgeries might have been successful but left him weaker over the years however, he still exercised to make them better. He shared his predicament in a recent podcast with Beer Biceps host, Ranveer.

Ronnie Coleman on his 14 surgeries and the toll it took on his body

During the podcast, the duo discussed topics ranging from his bodybuilding career to his family life, steroid usage, winning competitions, and life overall. Among these was the topic of his surgeries which changed his life forever.

Ranveer asked him about his surgeries and whether each of them gradually changed his mindset in some or the other way. The King answered, “I got weaker after every last one of them.” However, it was not a mental weakness but a physical one.

Coleman never got affected psychologically and he said, “major thing I had was herniated disc and I trained through all of that, it helped me get better.” Ultimately, his exercise and training helped him physically. The training rehabilitated it and helped the pain get better with time. He might have worked out a way to solve the problem but how did he get the herniated disc?

Coleman shared snippets of the accident

It is common for bodybuilders to lift heavy weights in the gym and Coleman’s included 1100 lbs leg press, 725 lbs deadlift, and 800 lbs squat. During one of his heavy duty exercises, he herniated his disc which would eventually strain his mobility.

He shared it in the Iced Coffee Hour podcast and said, “This day I was coming from rep number eight, and I heard a loud bang.” “It was so loud it kind of hurt my ear,” he further added.
